What an excellent way to spend your time.

You could call your internet company and see if there is maintence or problems like I did after A2 instead of pointing fingers without actual proof. No trying to defend anyone but I think you are sturring up more drama than necessary. Tbh bummed for you though Devin and I'm glad you decided not to race.
+1 for DDavis in my book.

DOUBLLEEEEE
Glad you didnt race in sense that you set a good example for what to do if your having bad lag/internet problems.

Would it be possible for Devin to call his provider and find out if an IP was targeting his? I would imagine you're sending something to your targeted IP to make it work harder, so I would think there is a way to figure out where those are coming from. However, I also imagine that those programs would have some way of hiding that stuff. It's really unfortunate that there is such a puerile person in the community.aeffertz wrote:There are programs the you can run on your computer (not saying the names) that grabs everyone's IP that you are playing against and you can target individual IP's.

I don't know enough about it to know, but I'd wager probably not just on the fact the provider couldn't be arsed to do anything about it.tyskorn wrote:Would it be possible for Devin to call his provider and find out if an IP was targeting his? DOS is illegal in quite a few countries and in the US a individual can be charged, they do take this seriously.aeffertz wrote:I don't know enough about it to know, but I'd wager probably not just on the fact the provider couldn't be arsed to do anything about it.tyskorn wrote:Would it be possible for Devin to call his provider and find out if an IP was targeting his? Atom, if someone wants your IP address they can get it with or without Skype easily.
Devin, log into your router and view the log. You can see in there if you in fact under a Dos attack. I will say though, with what happened with you last night I would lean towards it being more of a ISP issue and not a Dos attack. If you were attacked your router would have shut down then restarted, with how you were lagging in and out quickly while keeping connection makes me believe you had some sort of different issue..
When I played COD competitively being under a DOS attack happened in almost all matches, that was until idiots who did it started getting charged.

Peter, I know people can get your IP without Skype but when me and Seabolt were friends I wondered how he did it so he taught me. It's slight work with Skype, and I know Devin is logged on to Skype quite often so it wouldn't be a surprise if it was from Skype.

Atom, simply put if someone truly is targeting him there are thousands of ways they can get his IP. Removing Skype isn't the answer it is a band aid just like you using a VPN wasn't a fix when someone had your actual IP address already.Atom6246 wrote:Peter, I know people can get your IP without Skype but when me and Seabolt were friends I wondered how he did it so he taught me. Depends on if the person continues to do it.Atom6246 wrote:But why not delete Skype and renew your IP to see if anything happens again? It's worth a shot, is it not?

If it was ddos, then that person has serious issues and needs to get a life.
If it was an internet issue, I'd think it would have happened all night long, and not just during my heat race and LCQ. I was perfectly fine in TS and Sim, then my race started and I couldn't hear anyone and ping skyrocketed. Whatever, no pressure from here on out I guess for the title, laugh all you want I legitimately wanted to be a contender (unless it happens again).

Way to call out someone based on no factual evidence, real mature Devin.Ddavis wrote:I heard from a little birdy that the mystery ddoser rhymes with teabolt. #shocker
FYI Seabolt was racing in the same heat as you, aswell as the LCQ
