Are you using p2sta method? It isn't a perfect selection but it will get the majority of pixels
Yes I am, but it seems like it's been missing a noticeable amount of pixels lately and i'm not sure why.

best thing to do is duplicate it, delete your selection as normal then move to the duplicated layer slightly drop the opacity so u can see the missing pixels, then free select around the missing pixels, right click the area and hit select inverse and delete that, then group the two layers after u change the opacity back to 100 and merge those two layers. thats how i do it when i use the difference mode method, if thats what your doing
