i mean forum for me is fine since i kinda check it every day if im on pc but i can imagine for new people a discord would be nice,
dont think its a bad idea anyway to go with the hype/future to create an official MX Simulator discord and keep everyone up to date as well as updates/snapshots as funraces where creators can promote.

I'm kinda with Rico on this one. A lot of the new gen players hardly even get on the forums / know what it is. In terms of the internet, forum sites have kinda become outdated unless you're hardcore, been using for years, or are a developer scrolling ancient forum topics for a bug solution

The forum in my opinion is a beautiful way for people to learn a lot. The forum keeps things simple, and keeps things organized.

I admit, I don't even have a discord account. I thought it was just chat without the permanence of a forum or something like twitter or reddit.

Idk if you've ever used slack at a corporate job or anything like that but it's pretty much like slack but for gaming instead of working

I think this is awesome! You can access a forum with the ever ubiquitous, never out of their face phone just as easy as Discord. This is your baby, JLV. It just feels awkward having you puttin' a grille in and wearing your hat backward with face tats homie.

couple weeks ago i learned a fellow country man about server index, he played the game for 1/2 years and had no idea wat server index was, kinda shows that young gen has no idea how or wat a forum is and simply just ask always in discord when they need something.

i really think a main MXS cord will be good for the game, and if ur worried about people trolling to much in it just create certain roles for people that are only allowed to send messages and mute the rest.

This is called laziness.

That is 90% of new gen kids. They don't understand reading resources or forums or how to use the internet in general. Nowadays they ask someone they know or plug their questions into an llm and expect immediate responses. That being said, I do think that discord is more convenient nowadays though in terms of communication / building a community / socializing online than a forum though. Instant messaging + having an app on your phone for easy access will always beat a forum website any day for convenience. If you think otherwise you might be seeing stars

It definitely looks a lot like IRC. It seems like an odd choice for a forum replacement. Back when I used to use IRC I basically just socialized on it. Hard to imagine using something ephemeral like that for actual information. Maybe you could use bots to help but why not just use a forum in that case.

I could see how an official MXS discord could be nice but I don't think it would replace the forum.

That was what I was thinking. The forum should definitely still exist and not be replaced. But an official community discord could definitely help gather the community in one place to exchange information / event info. But the forums obviously are still good for track/model releases / documentation and other stuff like that.

I have my own Discord and use it regularly. I just know JLV to not jump on the "kiddy" bandwagon, as you can see here. I bet these same kids have no problem going on 4Chan etc., but won't bother with this forum. Age old story.

I haven't heard of someone using 4Chan in like 8 years . Pretty sure that's long dead no?

You damn kids, with your hula-hoops and dern bubble gum! Get with the program and get a haircut!
Before this forum, I had only used them for mods, hints etc. You are corralled into interacting in a forum on a personal level here. I like that. I can't say I'm proud of my history, but am at the same time. Learned a lot about the soul of gaming here and some of me is in the code! (Being able to toggle free-cam and follow cam. Imagine having to hold it down! Ach!). I can understand misguided passion, to the point of aggro gatekeeperism, such as we've encountered here. Basically making demands. Let's just try and say it comes from a point of...passion.
