Reflex Demo

I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

My thoughts on this game: EXCELLENT.

Seems as if rainbow made a huge step by making this, im sure everyone that was judging it by the videos is regretting what they said now.. It's nice to have a challenge, choosing the right lines really can make or break a race, and after seeing how rough a track can get in 3 laps im excited for the full game. 20 laps with terrain deformation, that screams horror.

The physics feel fine to me, not too arcade-y and not too much like a simulator (therefore all kids can play). Not too sure about the whole arrow thing to save your guy, but that wont take away from the enjoyment i get from this. Whips are pretty sick, being able to control the rider separately from the bike is absolutely amazing.. scrubs are ALOT more noticeable in reflex than they were in untamed. You definitely stepped it up a notch here rainbow and it shows. Good job.

Hey everyone. I hadnt posted in a while so thought Id say hi, so, hi.

I actually stayed up last night playing reflex as much as I normally do playing mxs on crazy nights...10pm-2am california time. After Untamed I was skeptical about Reflex, and demo had to show me the goods before I show it my wallet. I think the gameplay, terrain deformation and the rider reflex is innovative enough that it actually convinced me to buy it. How long I keep it is tbd.

Back to 3rd person with reflex (bummer) as MXS still has best first person camera. I dont like how easy the bike gets all squirrelly, but the rider reflex control does add a new challenge. When I did 'get it' while racing I at least pulled a 59sec lap on sugar ridge, which is ok I guess. There seems to be a lot more skill needed in reflex then prior rainbow games due to the new features. It was really fun when I would get the holeshot, hit the ruts, and perform little scrubs just right. It doesnt have the physics of mxs, but there is a challenge of controlling the bike, which is like mxs for me. I still have issues with ai and bar 2 bar racing that spins riders out when cut off and online is a big question mark, but so far, its on my good side. Dont be so quick to snub it.

I'll still play mxs and consider this my mx home. Besides, its hard not to play when I have to do bills every week on my computer desk. :D

I think the MX vs ATV franchise took a nice step forward from what I've seen so far, but there are still some things that need improvement. I agree with 1 point that has been mentioned many times, and that is the bike feels weightless. It is waaaayyyyy too easy to just suddenly change direction. Also the audio is definitely better, but I still think there is a ton of room for improvement. I also have a couple of visual suggestions. 1) I think for the next title, the rider's body position needs to be looked at. Not only is the rider always standing and over the tank, (unless you have pulled back on the r-stick of course) but I would like to see the rider at least looking like hes putting some weight on the outside peg in the corners. He almost looks like a streetbiker right now. 2) I would love to see the 1st person view moved back some. Just enough to be able to see the bars would be awesome. I absolutely love the feeling of riding in 1st person. Hitting the SX triple in the loading area is sick. It looks and feels real. It is just tough when you cant see your bars. It just gives you a sense of uncertainty I guess. 3) The rider will not seat bounce. This doesn't come into play as much on a national track, but when you get into SX, I would love to be able to come out of a berm and seatbounce a small triple that maybe wouldn't be clear-able while standing.

Overall I am very pleased with how the game feels once you get the hang of it. There is still a ton of room for improvement tho in my book.

Oh and has anyone figured out a good start technique? I seem to get absolutely left at the drop of the gate but then can catch back up by the top of the hill. That is if I don't get taken out by an AI rider lol.

Good comments, thanks for sharing.

One tip, you can seat bounce actually; let off the right stick (so you aren't leaning back) approaching a jump, and then at the base where the suspension is compressing, lean back and then let off of it as you leave the lip. This won't get you a ton of extra distance, but it'll help you get a bit higher trajectory to clear obstacles and such in supercross. It seems to help get the front forks to compress into the face (if you're learning back they won't go as far down) and still get the pull back distance.

So far I've been more frustrated with the game than anything. Not in the this game sucks kind of way, but the fact that I just cannot get the hang of it. I think the fastest lap I've turned out was a high 59.

One big complaint is the sometimes the bike gets so contorted in the air, you can't bring it back straight. I don't know how many times coming off the downhill jump after the holeshot, I come off sideways and it doesn't even try to correct itself. Maybe the auto correction in the air needs turned up or something?

I think my main problem at first was usnig the reflex too much. I found it's faster and smoother if you only use it when it's really necessary.
