Re: Gordies CRF pack vote + random engineer talk
Mechanical Engineer here too - BS from University of Iowa in 2003. I think people who have the personality of mechanical engineers are attracted to dirt bikes. or people who like dirt bikes, and working on them, are attracted to mechanical engineering. Basically, if you are really interested in how ...

Re: New rider test
Cool thanks for answering! I am sorta new 'round here - I appriciate your candid insight into how the modelling works. Is there a thread somewhere where you've discussed some of the details of your model the game is built around? i looked thru some of your posts yesterday, but since you have nearly ...

Re: New rider test
JLV, is the amount of damping applied (in the bikes suspension and the riders movement) related to the acceleration? In other words, does is work like a "dashpot" - the amount of resistance increases with the rate of change of speed? LIke real suspension - a piston submersed in a fluid, with a fair ...

Re: mx vs atv vs mx sim
I thought all of checkerz points were valid. As were all of your guys' points. I spent some additional time trying mx sim last night. I wouldn't call it a fun experience - it had it's moments though. In many ways, to call MX Sim realistic is laughable. The spontaneous highsides and constant front wh...

Re: [Tutorial] - Track Making - Part 2 Added
Hmmmm I like the looks of the MX Sim editor for SX tracks - that gradiant thing looks good.
So what size (resolution) PS file do you utilize in MX Sim? Or does it matter? Does it take a PNG/TGA or something else? I assume grayscale disp map??

Re: Seperate Editor?
Actually the worst thing about the MvA editor is how easy it is to use. Allowed no talent n00bs to turn out crappy 5 minute tracks and scared off all the track makers with talent. Well that and....well it's a long list  There's certainly a lot of good things about the MvA track editor that I wo...

Re: MXS game devolopment
If I may, the thing that's keeping me (and I believe others) from transitioning into this game is the long, painful learning curve. I have no problem spending the cash, it's the time I ain't got. Of course, maybe that "market" isn't a high priority to JLV and that's ok too. If the game had a physics...

Re: MXS game devolopment
LOL now this is what I call a push factor rather then a pull factor: I have one big question. When did jlv ever say he wanted the community to make him better models, tracks, ect? He isn't expecting the community to build him anything. That makes half of those points complete bs. the game's physics ...
