Re: Mx Game Contest
I'm not entirely sure jlv would agree to these terms, as it would bind him to contracts and dealines. sure 65000 euros is nice but it comes with a whole deal of extra trouble IMHO.The revenue generated from the game will be split 50-50 between the winning team and the producers.
Together with the team we will define milestones and payments to be made at the start of each milestone. Milestones are accepted if they meet the criteria set by Turborilla for that particular milestone. In case of non-acceptance, payments for the next milestone are withheld until milestone is accepted.
Turborilla will help out with creative guidance, but it is still the team’s game. We will take on a mentorship role to help the team make the most of their game and to maximize chances of commercial success.
The IP is owned by the team. But the producers has the right to 20% on any revenue derived from the IP beyond this particular title.
The team is responsible
for making the game, websites, server code, and to implement any meta-game requirements.
The team is also responsible for marketing, PR, distribution partners, and other business concerns. We are here to help with all that, though.
Repeated failure to deliver, delaying the project by more than 3 months, gives the producers the right to cancel the deal, which also entitles the producers to full rights of the IP, source code, and all other assets. The producers are then free to continue the project without the team, but the team will in this case get 25% of any revenue derived from the IP, source code, or assets.
This is all in layman’s terms, the deal to sign will be a proper contract including all the above.
also commercializing the product (which is obviously thier goal) isn't what this game needs its an MX simulator and should stay true to what it is.
but that's just my opinion

Re: Mx Game Contest
I think JLV is on the right track developing the game independently, sure progress might be a little slower, but when you have a team of developers and deadlines there will also be compromises. I don't think JLV wants to compromise on any part of his vision for the game and I hope he stays his course independently. This game doesn't need to be shotgunned into the mainstream, it will become mainstream as JLV chips away at his "to do" list and the game becomes increasingly more realistic. JLV has dedicated so much time and effort to this game, it would be a shame to get into a contractual agreement to share profits 50/50, JLV deserves to reap 100% of the profits when this game becomes THE ONE.

The biggest problem with the game right now, is that you either find out about it by searching the internet for mx games (rare), or having a friend that plays it (super rare). we need more shout outs like what we got from vurb.

Re: Mx Game Contest
I think the game doesnt need more people working, i mean, i get bored about COD4 after 2 months, same as nfs most wanted, and all those "good graphics" game.
but ive been playing mx simulator since 2007, and its still fun, my conclusion (wich is really weird) is that bad graphics game are more fun than good ones (i still play sometimes supermario world). LOL

it's not about the graphics but the gameplay.DankeKTM21 wrote:I think the game doesnt need more people working, i mean, i get bored about COD4 after 2 months, same as nfs most wanted, and all those "good graphics" game.

it just shows that todays games have got it all wrong.
the real value of a game lies in gameplay AND replayability (mostly achieved by making the game require skill, so it keeps you coming back and getting better). most game creators seem to forget the latter these days.
take games like COD or GTA. they are fun for a playthrough but once you have seen all there is there is really no reason to come back, unless you like to repeat the same thing over and over. while with MXS you get better everyday and it's exciting to shave time off of lap times.
some games try to compensate the lack of requiring skill by giving you xp and levels but that only lasts so long.

Re: Mx Game Contest
servatias thats just the thing, its all about bottom dollar. those big companies dont care if you only play their game once, because you already gave them their money. They could care less about the finish product, the only thing that comes into the conversation before they are about to release it is, "does it crash or lock? if it doesnt, then its not a bug" then on to the next project. ITs all about money making, where as with this game, which I really think is a one of a kind game from the gameplay graphics, pyhsics and community its all about replayablity. JLV is all about making it better and if more people buy all the better. This game takes some much time to learn, i dont think it will ever make it mainstream and thats a good thing I think, because only the people who are looking for this type of game will play it and buy it and thats just more money in JLV's pockets, rather then a multi-national humanless entity. MXS for the win, it will always get my vote.
