So I can expect a release from you soon correct? Hopefully it's not that TM I saw on your fb page.
Oh and a shitty attitude is always a great way to enter a discussion. They don't turn things to arguments at all.

Wish I could released things for the fun of the game and just the fun of making it but it's no fun for it to be ripped, passed around, disrespected, and made look bad by people. The amount of things that have been ripped this past week is crazy, it's like ripping has become the new way of creating almost.
So I'm just gonna throw a $ amount out there for discussion. For a full bike model with jm's, template, and pngs released I would think somewhere around $500 is sufficient? In my opinion that's a pretty low goal but I figured I would start somewhere.
I was thinking $500-$1000. Great minds think alike, but so do simple ones.
Thanks Gideon, sometimes the simplest minds are the great ones.

I've just upgraded the MXSCentral.com web server and track / skin uploads will be out I hope by the end of the month. The servers are now costing me $154 dollars a month (I have a couple of guys that hosts servers with me which help), and with donations it has helped a lot but as soon as those end it's coming back out of my back pocket. Otherwise I would donate to this, because I agree the creators should get something out of it, while I wont comment on the cost of what these should be I will say that Phatry has a point about keeping costs down and getting more people paying. But then the larger user base in this community is under 16's (or so some of them act) who may not have a card they could use with Paypal bla bla bla.
Thanks Barrington for the mention, and I would donate to this cause if I could but Central takes all my/business resources right now.
Phathry25 wrote:$500 sounded good in my head as well. That's 100 people donating $5 which really isn't anything, you can hardly get a candy bar for less than that.
But then I thought its basically going to be the same 100 people donating for every model and that's not really that fair either. I am assuming that the plan is to set a donation goal for each model and when you consider there is more than one creator looking into this suddenly the $500 starts sounding higher and higher if every creator or team asks for that much.
In the interest of actually meeting your goals repeatedly the $100 Hoffman threw out sounds more realistic. and because you have better odds of getting the $100 you actually get the money and get to release your work versus not meeting your goal and getting nothing out of it. Of course you actually have to stick to it. I would assume based on past history that if the work gets to anyone other than the creator it will get passed around like markhams mom and aint nobody be interested in donating for that!
I agree but just throwing this out there. There has to be a way of actually keeping track of who donates what, right? So lets say you constantly get the same 100 people donating. Why not keep the goal at 500 or 1000? The creators do the model, they dont have 500 or 1000, but lets say they have 300. Release it to the people that did donate and screw the rest. If I paid for it, and they didn't reach the goal, I wouldn't give it to anyone, screw em. Let them chip in. I think you can get $500 fairly easily. Maybe I am being too optimistic in my thinking, but I'd like to think we have at least 100 non-douchebags here. So we each donate 5, get to 500 and we non-douchebags get the model. At 1000 or w/e the rest of the people get it. Just a thought, that way the people who are willing to give get something in return, and those who aren't get nothing, or have to wait a long ass time before they do.

You forget people like Seabolt (who has multiple uid's so clearly can pay a whole bunch) and Adam Crews that can still donate and those guys are two of the biggest rippers.... Just sayin
Gideon, that's really what I thought too, and as I mentioned before, with the download numbers on previously released models, we are talking 10 - 20 cents a person here. Lets say there are 20 models a year, that are top quality. That's 2 - 4 usd a year for quality, up to date assets. I'd run that any day.
As for the "do it for free". I have been for 6 years, and it does not work, there will be a change, this is just a discussion on what it will be.

NP. Wish I could mention everyone thats made something or done something (like you running the site and races). I value everyone in this community down to someone making a square tuff block. It all adds to the game and makes it more enjoyable for everyone.
Theres other people that deserve to be paid just as much if not more than Attacker if this is the route we are going to take. I hardly ever see Wheels get any credit at all.. that dude does a shit load of stuff that no one even realizes. DJ... huh where do I begin. P2sta, DDMX, Checkerz, Hagg, Rafagus, Motoboss, Gio, I hate to even start naming people because theres alot and I know Ill forget some. But all being taken for granted right now.
BTW, its not about me giving up money to attacker for a model, its about everyone getting something that deserves it. Attacker isnt the only one that does. Hope you guys get it.
Hey, just to make this real clear, this is really an open suggestion, and is most certainly not just for my yz, even though that's the thread name(didn't really think that one through). I really do think a tonne of people should benefit, especially the guys you mentioned in that list, as well as a load others. I know mason for one does a tonne of work, at a really high level of talent, and usually gets the short end of the stick for some reason. Point being, I think this is a great way all the creators can benefit from their work.

Why ? It worked before! I know the quality of the models and skins are different but how did you learn to model for this game ? I guess by the old members like DJ ?
As far as hosting a webside my attitude is different. This could benefit from this idea.
Btw I dont think its "work". We dont have to make stuff for this game. We are no employees
Tennis, Basketball and Baseball all requires one ball
Motocross requires two!
I have the solution. JLV hires the modeling guys to make the models, templates ,and such. Pays them for the models to put into game. Make it like MCM2 people upload skins and tracks to a main site. Then JLV charges money every year for a updated content. All new content is bikes, gear Now JLV makes money on the game and the modelers make money on their designs. People upload their custom gear and skins on a site where people donate to keep it maintained and the community helps maintain it.

This is when the whole licensing deal comes into play. So its just not that easy for him to do that.
If this ever does happen. Keep it in the back of your head that there are a LOT of kids that play this for fun and no, not all are rippers. Some ignorant ones are but most kids that play this do not, they also have no money, which means JLV won't make as much money for the game since people don't feel like paying for EVERYTHING in the game. Personally I'd stop playing. The enjoyment that was once there would be lost. Downloading things for FREE, is no longer there, I do not want to pay for everything that I want in a game. This game and community is a great community!!! I know you creators do not like these little kids ripping, but don't forget this is a game, yes I know they take a LONG time to create, like models and skins and everything but still. Even though they do rip it, it is sad to see, but I mean, if your REALLY didn't want it ripped, why don't you put a password onto the saf or however DJ did that with the yz's and they wouldn't be able to rip it. You would send the password to the people you know have been around the community long enough, and have enough respect to not rip your things and give them the password. Yes it would take a lot of work to find the right people to send it to. But personally it would benefit for the whole community. Or JLV could maybe have something that you can select every user who joined in the year 2010, 2011 and back to 2008. Im more than positive that most of the ignorant little kids are from 2011-2013 that are joining. Athough there are some non ignorant ones so maybe there would be some way to omit them from the list to NOT send it to. Since they too are deserving of the model/skin etc.
It is a lot of work, but it would benefit the best for this community.
