People can't connect to my server
People can't connect to my server
Hey guys, I know that this question has likely been asked before, but I have had no luck so far. I recently created a server for my friends to play with me on as well as maybe host a couple fun races, but when my friends tried to connect they could not connect, even though the server is up. I even set my firewall to allow incoming connections but still had no luck in getting others connected. I know there is probably a simple solution, but I have not figured this out yet. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Re: People can't connect to my server
Need to forward the correct port on your router so that incoming connections can reach your computer from outside of your local network (as in from the internet).
http://portforward.com/ has lots of info, just look up your router model number. The port is specified in the server.args file you created (more info http://forum.mxsimulator.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4380). Some ISPs wont allow customers to forward ports in different conditions (sometimes you need to buy a fixed IP address, sometimes only business customers can, etc.) so try it, if it doesn't work then you may have to look into that.

Of course I would figure it out right before someone actually posts a response, got it up and working now though. All the same thanks for responding!

Cmz950 what was the problem and how we're you able to fix it I have the same trouble?
Re: People can't connect to my server
I'm having this same problem. I'm using hamachi. I forwarded 19800 on my router and my software firewall. Any suggestions?
Re: People can't connect to my server
Make sure you have the right ip adress entered in your port forward. For example, my actual default ip adress is 192.168.1.1, but the IPv4 adress( which is the one that is my routers adress, the one you actually use to forward with) is actually 192.168.1.2
To see this, go to start options, then enter "cmd". This takes you to the command prompt. Once in this, enter "ipconfig" and it should come up. The one for your router should be the 3rd line down under "Ethernet Adapter". It should have the name of your router next to it.
Hope this helps you somewhat.

Re: People can't connect to my server
You dont need to forward a port if you are using hamachi as hamachi connects the remote users to your LAN already. I believe they will need to use the internal IP to connect rather than the external IP.chadder44 wrote:I'm having this same problem. I'm using hamachi.
