Re: 2015-03-12 snapshot
The collisions are alot better! Definatly a step in the right direction, thanks!
Re: 2015-03-12 snapshot
if you're doing this then I think it would be acceptable to remove front end lock? Just a thought and it would make racing 10 times better

Re: 2015-03-12 snapshot
The collisions are better but there is still a huge bug I'm noticing. Was testing it last night with some people and when they would block passed me, they would tip over on my screen then 2 seconds later they would be appear riding again like they never fell over.
Re: 2015-03-12 snapshot
I agree with KC, we were testing in the LSD server last night and I would see the person go down on my screen but on their screen they didnt even bobble.
Re: 2015-03-12 snapshot
I won't be able to get rid of that entirely since the result of the collision is just an educated guess. I'll try tightening it up a bit.

Re: 2015-03-12 snapshot
Is the prediction system really needed? What would game play be like without it?
Re: 2015-03-12 snapshot
With no prediction, everyone would be behind where they should be by whatever their ping is. As an example, if two players were side by side at 30 mph, each player would see the other as 11 feet behind them if they had a 250 ms ping (44 feet/sec * .25 seconds = 11 feet).
Here's another version to try. It springs towards the extrapolated position harder in this version.
Windows: mx-2015-03-14-1251.exe
Linux: mxbin-2015-03-14-1251
All feedback appreciated, especially if you've already commented.

JLV if you need more help testing large impacts message me. I know a place
Re: 2015-03-12 snapshot
The bug where it looks like someone went down but they didn't occurs less often now. Still testing low speed collisions and random collisions (where its not intended but happens). One cool thing I noticed though is that you can go low speed and rub elbows per say and not go down.

Re: 2015-03-12 snapshot
I remember that happening on the previous snapshots, so I don't think that's something new

That was intentionally done a while ago. Trying to keep everyone from suffering when people don't look before they jump.jason_pama wrote:Where i land on someone, i crash but the person i land on doesnt crash :P
Still looking for feedback on this, especially from the people who complained.jlv wrote:With no prediction, everyone would be behind where they should be by whatever their ping is. Re: 2015-03-12 snapshot
The newest snapshot is definitely an improvement. The thing that throws me off is I will still occasionally see somebody angled one way then all of a sudden they'll be somewhere else, and it'll look like we're playing MvA Reflex. Last night in my FlowTech server, Race went in for the kill on me and when he got close, his rider was still angled as if he was entering the berm, but he glided around the corner and about a second later he magically flipped to going the right direction.
