sx track scale

Post by Nikhil »

Just out of curiosity, why aren't jlv's SX tracks scaled at 100%? Since the bikes' power curves are mapped according to real life, wouldn't they work well on realistically scaled tracks

Its hard enough to avoid squid riders at 125%, downscaling would be a nightmare!

Do you still have those two versions of Anaheim 1 with the two different scales? I wanted to try them out.

Should do it with one of the later tracks, as they were constructed quite differently to that track.

Yeah, I'd be interested to try one of the newer tracks at the 2 different scales. A1 2010 isn't anything like the current tracks (thank god haha).

Heres a dodgy conversion of 2011 oakland. Might be best to just remove the statues file

Also, forgot to mention that that felt pretty good. I was only playing with my keyboard, but it didn't seem too bad

I tried A1 at 100%, and I didn't care for it. But Oakland was fantastic. It felt a lot more realistic, like what you see when you watch helmet cam SX footage. I think the newer style tracks lend themselves to 100% much better than the old ones. It's easier to clear obstacles, but I think that's offset by the fact that it's harder to slow down in time. And I'm sure jump faces could be slightly altered to make gaps a little more difficult when necessary?

Oakland at 1:1 scale is pretty sweet. I'd like 1:1 overall because some of the tracks feel like highways, way too wide. There's going to be carnage and chaos anyways, and whoever gets a clean start will be at least half a lap in front of the rear of the pack by lap 2 regardless of if the tracks are 1:1 or 1:1.25

Yeah, I agree. 1:1 is way better it's not much different and carnage will happen no matter what. Yeah the triple jump faces could be steeper in some cases. 1:1 :D

I rescaled the height on that track. I'm not sure whether JLV kept the height at 1:1. If he did, then the jumps on that track I uploaded should be peakier

Here's Indy 2011 at 1:1. It does feel good. But its hard to say how it would go as a race track.
