Is it possible to host your own server? What does it entail? Just curious because me and a mate want to practice against each other to get our speed up before taking part in the series.
Thanks in advance.

Not yet. It will be at least a few weeks before I release the server.

Re: Hosting own server..
Currently the server is a command line program you run like this:
nohup ./mxserver --port 19800 --max-clients 11 --password topsecretpassword \
--greeting "Welcome to the custom track server. Other ports: 19801 - stock tracks, 19803 - supercross" \
--track-interval 15 --laps 5 \
--track ValkenswaardGP \
--track oldgoldberry \
--track alcrest \
--track ParadiseRaceway \
--track locust \
--track washougal2008 \
--track x1b \
--track mxon \
--track overhill \
--track thundervalley \
--track smithtown \
--track stjean \
--track glenside \
--track buddscreek \
--track Lierop_GP \
--track ridge \
--track Baufief \
--track redbud \
--track mooch \
--track PineCreek \
--track waterloo \
--track obelraceway \

Re: Hosting own server..
OK, so will this work for us if we wanted to run our own server? If so, should './mxserver' be something like './60.240.2.139' in my case. Is there anything else I should be changing?
Hmmm, forgot that dedicated servers actually have to calculate stuff. Guess I'll come back to this idea when I get another computer set up

Re: Hosting own server..
./mxserver is the name of the server executable. It's started under nohup so the process won't get killed when I log out.

Ah yeah, that makes more sense now.
