It could be something running in the background?

Try "/fpshist" in the chat screen. If you're getting occasional slow frames it'll show there.

Honestly Will, make sure your hard drive is defragmented(Windows System Tools) then, the first thing that needs to happen is shut down all that background crap like Skype(resource hog) or MSN or Xfire(hog) so you know it's not because of that stuff(if you use it and MUST have it run, beware of performance loss). In MX Sim in the main menu, go to New Race and set Record Demo to "No". If that doesn't help, lower your graphics resolution 1 notch. If THAT doesn't help start turning off advanced graphics features. Some people refuse to sacrifice looks for frames, but that's what has to happen to get a smooth frame rate until you get a gaming rig.

Wow, really? A GT720 is getting 125 FPS without any drops online? And your using models?

See, this whole time I've locked myself to 60 because I thought I might drop from 125 to 100 every now and again and it would mess with me. Seems I've underestimated my 780.
