2010 Dyno + Something about springs

Post by DJ99X »

Thought these might be of interest. From the latest ADB magazine.

Unfortunately, they didnt have the RMZ250 available for the test. But they did have a Husqvarna TC250.

That Husky max power is incorrect, lol

This chart is from an article on tapered shock springs that were designed by some Australian bloke. Probably not relevent, as Jap bikes use linear progression springs, but an interesting read nonetheless.

It looks like there's a decimal point error in there. Most shock springs are around 5 kgf/mm. (Just looked it up and the KTM 250sxf is 6.3 kg/mm.)

You would think more people would run progressive springs on the KTM's to compensate for the missing linkage.

That's one of the things I most liked about the KTM. Coming from a flat track background I hate how much squat you get on a linkage bike, the first time I rode a KTM I noticed how much more I liked it through flat corners.

Oh KTMs might be much cheaper in Europe than they are overseas.

But yeah KTM's are at least a couple of grand more expensive than all the jap bikes and spares are more expensive as well.

What isnt true?

I wasn't sure about KTM's being cheaper in Europe, I just assumed they might be seeing as they are made over in Europe.

And the second part is true, for Australia at least which is where DJ and myself are from.

The JTM's were cheaper than the Honda's when I bought my bike. And parts are no more expensive than any of the jap bikes over here either.
