Tips for jumping?

Post by Aus_James »

Hi all,

I've been playing the demo now for about a week. Really a great surprise to find a MX game that isn't all about Freestyle BS and is actually a simulator! Great work

I've finally started to master the controls (using a PS2 controller with the analogue sticks for acc/brake and steering). Got the hang of using the Dab function to get stability in the corner and starting to do some good laps.

But I"m having a big problem with jumps. I just can't seem to get the landing right. I end up getting a few degrees, not a lot, crossed up in the air and I try to correct it with the steering, but end up just dumping it on the landing. The control system doesn't seem totally obvious in the air but can someone give me some tips?

The videos on the website make it look easy, but I"m sure that's the game creator who has a lot of practise and experience.

Any ideas?

cheers

If you are pulling whips off the jump, just hold the whip in the same direction, as it corrects itself. After you start getting the hang of this, you will soon be able to pull the whips back in yourself. If you aren't pulling whips, just try and it the jump as straight as possible

throttle_key=(k)PLAYSTATION(R)3Controller button 14
front_brake_key=(k)PLAYSTATION(R)3Controller button 9
rear_brake_key=(k)PLAYSTATION(R)3Controller button 15
left_key=(0.000000,-1.000000)PLAYSTATION(R)3Controller axis 0
right_key=(0.000000,1.000000)PLAYSTATION(R)3Controller axis 0
clutch_key=(k)PLAYSTATION(R)3Controller button 8
upshift_key=(k)PLAYSTATION(R)3Controller button 11
downshift_key=(k)PLAYSTATION(R)3Controller button 1
dab_key=(k)PLAYSTATION(R)3Controller button 10
back_up_key=(k)PLAYSTATION(R)3Controller button 13

throttle_key=X
front_brake_key=R2
rear_brake_key=SQUARE
left_key=LEFT STICK
right_key=LEFT STICK
clutch_key=L2
upshift_key=R1
downshift_key= L3
dab_key= L1
back_up_key- O

Try those controls, and for help jumping as DJ said hit them strait. To start whipping just find a good jump and master just jumping it, then jump it and then in the air lean to one side just for a split second then release and it will come back and just gradually start adding more lean and start leaning earlier until you can hang it out there, "just practice more".

Hammer on the gas if you need to.

That will straighten out the bike.

When I was learning, I payed close attention to the front wheel and the direction it was facing while coming in for a landing. If it is not straight with the landing then you will most likely crash. If you get the front wheel lined up straight with your landing, then the backend can be pretty sideways and you can still land and pull out of it. Start by paying close attention to the front wheel and after awhile it becomes natural with where to steer it when you land.
