I'd recommend my CPU.

3.6 GHz, 3.8 turbo, quad core, $109. Works like a charm for me.

Some good CPU discussion in this thread on the BF3 forum. Disregard the fighting between the Intel diehards and myself.

With what i said i ment that you don't need a intel sandy/ivy bridge, you can buy like you said an cheap AMD "bulldozer". Or AMD Phenom II X4 970 only 119$ on newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819103893

Yes, but the 2500k outperforms almost all AMD cpu's.

The benchmarks are ugly for AMD. Not sure what to think about an 8 core CPU with 4 floating point units. I guess it's good marketing. The main problem with the lots of cheap cores strategy is most apps have one thread that's extremely hard to parallelize. The easily parallel stuff is usually better off running on the GPU, which kind of leaves the 8 core CPU in no man's land.

It would get more people in mxs i think because you would not have to buy and 1000+ dollar or euro computer for competing in online tournaments and races.
My graphics card has 768mb. I run this game at 120 frames per second.

This game is really not GPU intensive, though. Do you have a really good CPU? Also, are you running 120fps in single player or multiplayer, user created models and tracks, etc.?

I ran 100 FPS in full 03 race online.

doesn't this game alot of v-ram? I'm almost positive a 2gb card would outperform a 1gb card by a lot when playing online.

I have a pretty bangin custom computer that my friend made. Was a top-notch liquid cooled gaming computer about 6 years ago. When playing alone, I can run high graphic settings, custom models and skins, all that, and have very high FPS. However, with a full 40 man gate, I cannot play no matter how much I turn the graphics down. Even with all stock models, no skins, no roost, 32 bits, and 0 texture detail (and very low everything else).

Kinda frustrating. I wonder if there is anything that can be done, because the reason there are not always full gates in the nationals is not because there aren't enough ppl that want to race, but most of us simply cannot handle 40 man gates, even with pretty powerful computers.

I built a $850-$900 budget AMD system for myself around november. I can handle full gates with everything turned all the way up. But to get more than 50FPS I turn my ground geometric detail down to 60, my roost to 10-20, lensflares off, and that's it. Ofcourse, that's with a 2nd personal folder with nothing but the bike model, the rider model, + all the skins I was using. I'd say thats pretty good for a cheap-er build.

So, you ran 20fps lower with probably about 5 more riders. To race a 40-man gate, I have a feeling your computer would just poop all over itself. Anyways, that's besides the point.

At Hangtown, Conman was maxing out at something like 17% GPU usage. That should be a lot higher IMO. Sure, a GPU with 2GB V-RAM would outperform a GPU with 1GB, but I don't know how worth it that would be to get a new GPU when the game only uses 17% of the GPU. I think LODs would help a great deal, and even though it wouldn't help as much as LODs according to JLV, multi-core support would be very nice.

Wow only 17%?!? I think JLV should only work on multi-core support now and ditch everything else for awhile becouse that would really help. I don't have a clue if it's hard to make it happen but it is necessary imo.
