Trevor, if I were you I'd start with a simple overhead view 2d racing game just to learn the basics. I just tried to find a good tutorial for you and couldn't come up with anything good. Everything tries to start out with ridiculous stuff that a novice won't even care about. It was easier when I was a kid starting out with BASIC. Almost makes me want to write a game programming tutorial myself.

JLV are there any engine's you recommend for making a 2d game.... i was thinking start off with a little 2d game like terraria and work my way to motocross.

ODE wouldn't be good for beginners. For a beginner, the physics code is likely to be something like "x = x + xvelocity * timestep". No libraries needed for that.

You'd think someone would have made a game programming tutorial using Javascript and a canvas element. You'd see results immediately without even leaving your web browser.

i know the concepts and basics of ODE.... i have python and found a tutorial on ODE using Python. but i was thinking about using like java ore something easy...... I know enough to were I am not really a beginner but not a novice i am in the middle.... JLV you would be a pro i think..... you must just kick back and say damn i made this game.... then you see the ban court lol

Thanks JLV!! that really helped me understand Python better... im now learning Pygames..... This is the best part about our community even the Creator helps you with stuff!!! makes me not want the game to ever stop!
