Hoe do i get the graphic as awesome as I see on youtube?
I have an amazingly fast machine but my graphics are not nearly as good as I see online? Is it because I am not using a HDMI cable? (My puppy ate mine) or do I need to do something with the settings?

Wait what did you call us? A hoe?!SSGHopkins wrote:I have an amazingly fast machine but my graphics are not nearly as good as I see online? Is it because I am not using a HDMI cable? (My puppy ate mine) or do I need to do something with the settings?
Change you graphic settings to high detail and run shaders on 'shaders direct'. You can use DVI or HDMI don't use VGA.

Or you could go into the settings and manually adjust them to max... Just keep compressed textures off, and actually put it on "shaders/copy".

I'd go with what JLV says and that's 'shaders direct'. But I'm sure he'll post here soon.Ballsfalsky wrote:Or you could go into the settings and manually adjust them to max... Just keep compressed textures off, and actually put it on "shaders/copy".

I'd advise against maxing out the advanced settings. It won't be noticeably better than the high detail presets but it will waste huge amounts of memory.

Can you please explain the difference between shaders/direct and shaders/copy as well as hardware/direct & copy? Thank you sir!jlv wrote:I'd advise against maxing out the advanced settings. It won't be noticeably better than the high detail presets but it will waste huge amounts of memory.
Re: Hoe do i get the graphic as awesome as I see on youtube?
When I run Shaders/direct on sx events, I get 50 fps, shaders/copy I get 110-125. I don't know if its based on your pc which one it better

Re: Hoe do i get the graphic as awesome as I see on youtube?
Direct means textures are rendered directly into texture memory with OpenGL framebuffer objects.MXTrent75287 wrote:Can you please explain the difference between shaders/direct and shaders/copy as well as hardware/direct & copy? Copy mean textures are rendered into the back buffer first and then copied to texture memory.
Shaders = terrain rendered with shader programs with norm/spec maps.
Hardware = terrain rendered with static textures rendered on the graphics card.
Software = terrain rendered with static textures rendered on the CPU.

Can you cover the "compress textures" in this thread as well please.
Re: Hoe do i get the graphic as awesome as I see on youtube?
No - No compression.
Yes - Only compress textures containing a "[compress]" comment.
Always - Compress all textures.

May I ask, why? My laptop doesn't have hdmi and I'd way rather play on a 40 inch screen than the 17 my laptop has.MXTrent75287 wrote: don't use VGA.
