Pre-made Setups for beginners

Post by WinterRacing »

I think it would be a good way to get more people into the game. If say when you were to download the game it would a list in game of saved setups. This way pros and beginners would be able to keep track of what they had and what they want to experience with. What do you guys think?

Us 'pros' already know how to save our setups... /readsetup setupname to load it and /writesetup setupname to save it. #easy

I agree winter racing. and disagree scotty, With so many things in life to remember these days like birthdays, anniversaries, meeting times/dates ect let alone all the shit I need to remember for my job like engineering calculations ect, and then ALL the shit for computers that I need to remember (for both work and play), passwords, codes, let alone shortcut keys for programs like 3ds max, blender, office, excel, mastercam, photoshop, solid works. autocad ect,

To me, Remembering /readsetup setupname to load it and /writesetup setupname to save it isn't #easy.

everytime I want to do it I have to find it on the forums how to do it, and then I forgot what I saved it as.......

sorry but mxs isn't my life and I cant remember every command for it.

cant we just have a save/load setup page in the options? this has been asked for many times in the past.
and yes I know about mxs garage.

You can go into your personal folder and search 'setups' and it will open a folder with all your setups that you have saved. You can click on them and open them in notepad or just simply use the command /readsetup and the name that is in your personal folder and it will load it. Having a drop down box for loading setups in game would be nice but it only takes a few extra seconds to look at them in the personal folder so it is not necessarily needed. I would rather see better bike collisions about 10x over before I saw this added.

A drop down in the menu would be awesome. The write/read setup takes too long. If you have to look up the name of the set up in the personal folder, go back in game /readsetup____, the gate is down by the time I am finished. A setup tab in the menu would take this game to the next level for me. I use the same setup for every track because its hard to keep track of what I have.

I have my setups named:
-mx (specific mx setup)
-sx (my sx setup)
-standard (universal/mx setup)
-whiptest (for slightly bigger whips)

if you want to work on a setup, read the setup e.g. sx, than make some changes and save it as sxtest. Next time, if you're unhappy, either reload sx and start from scratch or continue on the sxtest. I have a SUPER bad memory most of the time but naming them like this makes me remember lol.

I'm more than fine with the current /readsetup /writesetup commands, but I do think it would be sick to have an option that tells you the exact setup you were using in a demo. Say i'm watching an old race I saved, and i'm just absolutely railing every rut, I have no clue what setup I was using. Automatically saving and pairing setups when you name a demo would be such a cool feature.

As for the whole Idea of Pre-made setups for beginners, im not to sure about that. Lots of write-ups telling people exactly what everything does, and there are tons or pre-made setups on the forum anyway. Just save them. Plus if there was pre-made setups then people would get lazy and never learn how to make their own.
