my skullcandies, speakers, and surround sound all output different mxs sounds. Sadly, the sounds sound best through the shatty computer speakers.

Seriously? I think it sounds better through my new skullcandies. Just the difference in how they output the sound makes it sound sick-er than usual (through earbuds, or my monitor speakers).

But seriously, when we're talking about sound differences, it isn't a whole lot difference, but i can still tell that it's not the same.

when you rev bikes in real life they instantly make you wet your pants. in the game, it makes you turn the volume down

Thanks.
Never remember saying that hehe. I did post something about the game running better eventually on more cores (having the game use more cores in the future) but nothing about the sound changing that I remember .

I think you may have misused the word dynamic there. A static sound would be a single note, a dynamic sound is one that changes. ie, we have dynamic sounds.

I doubt the amount of processing power would affect the sound
Sry I dont know the word for it in english, im just guessing
Perhaps its Organic sound?
for example, listen to the sound when they are going up the lip of the jump http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7CsK6Pe ... re=related

THats the kind of sound im wondering if we could have, now we got sound that just gets lower and higher volume depending on if the bike is moving towards you or away. With this organic stuff you can hear if the bike is going up a hill, depending on the enviroment around it.

the way games like mx vs atv work is that they have prerecorded sound, and they play the sound according to what happens (a bad way to do game sounds if you ask me).

MXS sound is generated depending on what happens in game, mainly the gear and RPM the bike is running at. the system MXS uses where sound is being generated by the game is called dynamic sound.
It provides a lot of flexibility and freedom but it also makes it very hard to engineer properly, since all sounds have to fit properly and sound good no matter what happens.

in other words proper dynamic sound engineering is a tough and time consuming job, and since jlv is working on this game all by himself I think we should be happy with the sound we currently have until jlv gets the proper resources and time to make it better.

once that time arrives I have no doubt we'll be in for a treat.

I also have to point out that sound engineering for an MX game has to be much harder than for a common road racing game

MXS definitely has a better sound system than MvA, and all other MX games, as far as how it works. MCM2 still has the best actual sounds imo (was playing it a few days ago and I forgot how good they sound).

It would be interesting to see a person's fastest recorded lap time on a track after their first two races on a track online. After just 10 laps on that track. At least for this supercross series. It sort of irritates me that the kids setting the fastest laps are spending countless hours racing these tracks, and I kinda want to know how fast we all are with the same recorded amount of time.

Diffrent types of Online competitions like a Rookie and a Pro series
the guys known to be fast go straight to the Pro series and the guys who are "decent" in the game go to the Rookie series and if a guy wins the rookieseries he gets suspended from there and has to go in the pro. I think this would be a great thing:D

this is more of a forum suggestion than a game suggestion but...
Would it be possible to make it so all new members of this forum MUST read the FAQ before they can post? like they try and post but it comes up with an error saying "Before you can post, you must look at the FAQ thread, it can be found: <insertlinkhere>"

Would make life much easier on everyone

I feel something like this is necessary, but extremely far out of reach. The ability to generate random trees, and billboards all mapped, extremely quickly.

OK, so. If someone takes you out you should have the ability to fight the guy who took you out. "Mittocs has requested to fight, do you accept?" and then you battle it out mortal combat style.
