Re: Game Suggestions
What about if you had a unique rding style? like you could choose to ride like Dungey, Texs book style. or Lawrence and kinda home style. so you would look differant to the other riders. maybe create your own riding style. By isnt that just making your own physics?

Re: Game Suggestions
I think a better solution than having a select a style riding style would be to have sliders for controlling the base rider position. Like one for hips, and one for head. That way you could make your guy ride more forward or backwards, or sit up straighter etc. As far as I'm concerned we all already have our own riding style, its just that we all have the same body positioning. I see no reason why this shouldn't be added, the only thing is should it be graphically only, or should it effect physics. The easy answer is yes it should effect physics, but through the laws of we all want to be fastest eventually we'll all end up using the same body positioning in the end anyways.
I also cooked up a possible solution to the weighting the outside footpeg problem. What if sticky sit/dab was forced on. When the sit/dab button was held the rider would stay in his current position (siting or standing) and weight the outside footpeg. If it wasn't held down, he would stay with the bike. You would change positions by just pressing the button. Or only have him weight the outside footpeg when he is sitting, and the button is being held. Or when the rider stands he stays with the bike, if you just press the sit button he sits and stays with the bike, if you hold it down he weights the outside footpeg until you let go, then goes back to leaning with the bike. Good idea or bad? I like it, its relatively simple, and doesn't involve any extra buttons.
And thanks for the info checkerz, I had deduced that solution myself, its good to hear that that is really the case.

Re: Game Suggestions
I don't know about that. I use dab for more than just cornering. I mean, I start sitting, then lean back, breaking I'll stand up, weight in the back, I sit in some corners, stand in others, and sometimes I sit through entire rhythm sections, other times I might seatbounce one jump, and not the other 2 or whatever.Phathry25 wrote:I think a better solution than having a select a style riding style would be to have sliders for controlling the base rider position. It's a cool idea, but sitting and cornering-style-sitting needs to be a seperate function. how to do that, I don't know.

Re: Game Suggestions
i was just thinking, you all know when you race when you pick a peg, or something with a number from 1-40, so it's random, any way i was thinking maybe have a gate selector, sort of like poker, their random things online, don't know if it is possible, just thought it was good
Re: Game Suggestions
online?
tear offs?
something better?
honestly give it a rest hes got alot of things on his plate and he said he would get around to it
"its the only thing that hasnt got updated since the game was realeased"
I know that and im sure it will get touched up but honestly bike sounds are great were they stand and the best ive heard for any mx game so lets take baby steps and get there when we get there
(like how i shortn'd this conversation up? your welcome DJ)

Re: Game Suggestions
sounds good, right now all the terrain is 100% hard, the introduction of this will go someway to introduce the "feel" of different firmness, but the bike will still ride on the surface.jlv wrote:Checkerz448:
There are changes I plan on making that will affect cornering. The current traction is done with Coulumb friction. That is close to correct for dry sliding surfaces like concrete, pavement or hardpacked dirt. When the tires actually dig into the dirt there is a viscous drag effect that isn't modeled with the current traction system. In future versions it will be possible to give a different coefficient of friction for each slip rate. That will allow for much closer modeling of softer soils. That should help prevent the unexpected washouts because it will slip some before it gives out entirely.
is it possible to have decals that you can raise the height of? they would follow the ground shape you've modelled and give the required depth.

Or a better option would just be to lower the ground collision slightly.

Or the BEST option would be to have the tire collision slightly higher than the tire on the model. lolwakestyle21 wrote:Or a better option would just be to lower the ground collision slightly.

Or the Beterest option would be to make each piece of dirt it's own collision object.Checkerz448 wrote:Or the BEST option would be to have the tire collision slightly higher than the tire on the model. lolwakestyle21 wrote:Or a better option would just be to lower the ground collision slightly.
Re: Game Suggestions
yep,if you could raise a decal,a few inches to a foot or so and give it a collision file, yippee!
