Petition to get rid of Pillar of Dooms

Post by Ddavis »

Who honestly likes the pillar of doom? Does it stop cutting? Not really... Do you fall when you come somewhat near it? Yes

The model that you used makes it where if there's a 90 degree turn and you lean over and hit your head on it you crash. Sometimes you aren't even making contact with the pillar, you just fall off the bike. Can you either just take them out or use something else..

I agree with the part where you hit your head but I think it's worth it as you can't jump around the corner double to double as bad and you have to be more careful in your line

I would like it if they only came up to shoulder height so it's harder to hit with my head, but I do think they should be on the track.

I find myself hitting them alot, too. The way a lot of tracks have been designed this year include sections where the fast line was that jump through the corner technique, or even just cutting close to the tough blocks. Even Seattle has that little roller that makes you dive to the inside only to be dominated by the pillar.

That just sounds like the pillar doing its job...

I like them but I think they should just be further off the track so you can hit the inside line.

DP.
As you can see the guy is on the track but because he is leaning he is also off the track. Move the pillars across to compensate please.

The poles in real life don't allow you to lean off the track on the farthest inside line. I don't think the poles in MXS should, either. Also, if they were to be moved, then the entire purpose of the pole would be negated.

Getting rid of the pole and shifting it are two different things, if it was shifted you would only be able to jump the corner on par with the bales.

If it were moved, I still feel like that would go against the purpose.

Nobody in real supercross is glued to a perfectly upright body position, either. I haven't seen problems with legitimately good racers hitting poles, either.

Take your gay ass feelings else where August. I don't know any riders that use glue to position themselves. It doesn't happen in real SX because the poles are further off the track.

Moving it a little farther out wouldn't hurt at all. Allows for you to lean, and it still does its job. 9/10 if you move it and somebody tries cutting that corner, they are either gonna hit a bale, the pillar, or both.
