Seperate forum sections for models/skins editing and release
Personally I feel there should be two forum sections, "Models and Skins Editing" and "Models and Skins releases". This would then work like the track editing and tracks sections we have at the moment. The editing section would be where you can ask advice about models and skins, post your problems etc and the release thread would be strictly for releases with the rule that your thread will be deleted if it does not contain a skin/model link.
The community is continuing to grow and skins/models are being released more frequently but they are getting lost pretty quickly in a sea of requests and other useless threads asking for .jms etc. People are currently forced to add ********RELEASE*******!!!!!!!!$$$$$$$****** to their thread title to try and distinguish it from the rest of the crap that gets posted there.
Making two sections will mean that peoples releases stay on the first page for longer and get more exposure, people that are genuinely looking for help and advice might get their questions answered and people wanting to check out the newest releases will not have to spend ages trying to determine which thread is a release and which is not.

I agree, but even go further. Have bike/rider model realeses have a category separate to skins aswell
named something like -
bike and rider models (releases only)
bike and rider skins (releases only)
models and skins editing
named something like -
bike and rider models (releases only)
bike and rider skins (releases only)
models and skins editing

I guess to be consistent with the tracks sections, it should be "Models and Skins" for releases and "Modeling and Skinning" for the editing talk?

As long as it is clear for people as to which section they need to put their thread in then I don't mind.jlv wrote:I guess to be consistent with the tracks sections, it should be "Models and Skins" for releases and "Modeling and Skinning" for the editing talk?

what about a release section jlv? you have to set you prefix to what it is ( [track], [skin], [model] )

I figure "Models and Skins" would be the release section and "Modeling and Skinning" would be for modeling talk. I don't think we need to force people to use prefixes since there's a separate subforum for tracks anyway. Plus it'd be like herding cats to force people to add it.

The reason I want separate models section as its so hard to find all the models. I mean I still get messed up looking skins and have a 20gb personal folder and a lot of skinners don't link a model. would be nice to just have a spot for models only (or http://www.tmfactory-racing.com/ this would be good on your site too!) and phat your recommended model list is out of date

I stand behind my recomendations.
You are welcomed to take over the reigns if you'd like. Just quote it to copy the text and get to work. I'm sure JLV would gladly replace my old and dilapidated sticky with your updated one.
