modifications

Post by squirrelboy86 »

I think the best thing that can be done to this game to improve it (other than 450s) would be engine mods and exhaust systems that actually increase performance. I dont mean things that you have to buy because that would make it alot harder to put into the game, i mean like some things like where we pick our gear and skins there could be more of those boxes for say a carb. mod and u could pick from a few like a tokyo mods carb. or whatever and an exhaust and header box also where you can pick from differant brands and models of exhaust systems. There wouldnt need to be a million differant mods imo you could just do the basics like exhaust, carb.,header, pistons, cam, suspension mods would be a plus also, etc.

i know this isnt very good of an explanation but it seems like a great idea for this game but it may be a challenge to insert it into the game but i would think there is a way to change the dyno for say if you change the stock exhaust system for a pro circuit exhaust system it would add however much horsepower and torque that exhaust is supposed to add to your engine.

this is all i can think of now, tell me what you think please.

Everyone would just use the combination that makes the bike the fastest and never use anything else.

unless there was a class for mod bikes and stock bikes and the riders team required certain parts like geico powersports is differant from dna shredsticks and so on

Can you imagine the effort involved in doing something like that.

Problems (for a one man show, with limited budget)...
- You can NOT work on manufacturers "claimed" values (they are normally inflated, so everything would have to be tested for real)
- Think of something as simple as jetting (I'm a pre-EFI baby) and the affect it has on engine performance
- You cannot just sum the increases of different mods (an after market pipe will not have the same effect on a bike that already has a modded carb vs stock)

I'm not even going to carry on - this kind of thing is just not worth the effort in my opinion.
Don't get me wrong, every guy loves modding his dirtbike - but this is not mechanics simulator.

Look at how many "what's your setup?" questions there are already on the forum!

We def need some rich dude who loves the game, and is willing to donate a dyno + bikes and parts to JLV.

i would like to be able to modify gear ratios, within limits. nearly all factory's that i know of change the gear ratios on the pros bikes.

Well - if jlv find that rich investor - I nominate myself to test all bikes and mods in real life :-D

Even gearing mods - I can see value in down the line, and at least something like that can be calculated, it's based off of base powerplant performance.
BUT - in all honesty, if jlv's gonna go down this path - I'd first like to be able to save and load setups in game.
