It's kids who think they are being funny an want reactions from people so they can laugh. So, trolls. They are idiots and shouldn't be fed the ego they so desperately want to earn by trolled victims. Here is a diagram of their brain.

They believe that by them being complete idiots and insulting themselves they are insulting whoever reads the post. This comes from a huge amount of non-existent pride they get from being able to become anonymous in a posting. This is called E-Peen. Here is a diagram after a troll has posted something extremely stupid.
