Help with creating server
Hi, I first want to say that I love the game and can't wait to learn how to go down a straight without crashing. My brother and I have been playing MX games since Excitebike and are trying to practice together. We can both connect to existing servers so obviously the issue is with me creating a server. I downloaded the server software and the hamachi program, started up a game and my brother was able to connect. However, he could see me but I couldnt see him. We restarted, but then he could no longer connect to my server. I forwarded port 19800 on my router, on my AVG firewall, and in windows firewall just in case. I have been reading forum pages for 2 hours and trying this over and over, but cant seem to get it to work. canyouseeme.org says "connection timed out" when my router is set to "both", and it says "connection refused" when i have it set to UDP. I downloaded PFportchecker by portforward.com and they say UDP 19800 is open on my system. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Re: Help with creating server
Do you both live at the same place? When you join a server generally you will be in warmup mode (invisible) until the next race starts (why you couldn't see him at first but he could see you). Then when the next race starts you will both be visible to each other and collisions between both of you will also be enabled. Now you said that when you restarted he wasn't able to connect, did he get an error or something? It could be something as simple as not having the next track in the rotation.
Hamachi is a tool to allow you to create a VPN (virtual private network) without the hassle of port forwarding and configuring firewalls. You should only use one of the two methods of giving outside access to your network and only if your brother is outside your network in the first place.

Re: Help with creating server
Thanks for the reply. He is at his house and I am at mine. I figured out that the only time it works is when I'm not using hamachi. When I just gave him my IP address, it worked fine. I guess I'll just stick to port forwarding and not using the hamachi IP for now.
And thanks I thought I was going crazy with the invisible thing, I did discover that once we restarted I could see him.

Yea, port forwarding is the preferred method but some people either don't know how to do it or are blocked from doing it by the ISP so that is when Hamachi comes in handy.
