Editor issue, horrible lag with statues

Post by Shadow »

Any way to reduce the massive amounts of lag I get in the editor when I have statues on a track? It makes placing new statues, and correcting their position a real pain and slows my track making into a crawl. I distinctly remember older snapshots not having this issue.

Just checked the editor with "/renderstats" on, and the model polygons, decals, texture and shader changes go simply wild. The values keep climbing up into infinity as long as I stay in the editor screen, but as soon as I tab out back into 3rd person camera, it returns to normal.

This was after only a 15 secs or so in the editor.

It doesn't work as an editor benchmark since it doesn't clear the counters when the editor is up. Not sure why the editor is slow for you. What graphics card is it?

Is it only slow in statue mode? Maybe ATI's drivers are reverting to software for the line drawing when it draws the outlines.

Simply going into editor starts the lag.

Dang this no editing possibility...

I also played around with the software/hardware copy/direct to see if it would have any effect but no luck. Neither did the rest of the graphics options in mxsim.

Actually it always draws the outlines for the editor. So the mode won't matter. It's probably either the model outlines or the orthographic projection. I'll build a copy with the outlines disabled and see if it helps.
