Extreme Load Times
Well, I've always had long load times, and I've always attributed it to being on a not-so-fast hard disk and having hardware that's not quite stellar, but recently, I purchased an SSD to run, primarily, my OS and MXS. Windows boots very quickly as compared to on my hard disk, but MXS seems to take just as long, if not longer, than it ever did. What could it be? Ground shaders could be one thing, but I'm only running them at 256x256. Would Shaders/Direct be quicker? Are my graphics just too high?

I also have a very fast SSD (Samsung 830 series 256GB) and a really strong cpu and gpu (I-7 3930k and 2x 4GB GTX 670 even though mxs does not support SLI
). And my load times are still pretty long, although shaders makes a huge difference.

Re: Extreme Load Times
I found it to be bad when trying to run any of the Ama Mx tracks that have shaders.
It was so bad that it would crash every now and again.

Just be patient, waiting half a minute or a minute isn't that bad.

Re: Extreme Load Times
It gets upwards of two or three minutes sometimes. In rF races, I'm always the last to load, and I always miss the gate drop on races that I spectate. My hardware is good, and the SSD is extremely fast, so I'm pretty sure something's wrong.

Re: Extreme Load Times
I normally don't have load times that are that extreme. I don't think I noticed much difference between my SSD and caviar black mechanical though. At least not as drastic as Windows load times. Shaders Direct would definitely be the longest loading time, but only on the tracks that have shaders. Think this is a question for jlv.

I am waiting an upwards of 5mins. (If it doesn't crash)

Re: Extreme Load Times
I don't have a good guess. If you turn down the texture settings and it speeds up, it's probably an OpenGL or graphics card problem. If turning down the texture settings doesn't help, it's probably an IO problem.

If I turn shaders off it takes just under a minute.jlv wrote:I don't have a good guess. If you turn down the texture settings and it speeds up, it's probably an OpenGL or graphics card problem. If turning down the texture settings doesn't help, it's probably an IO problem.

Re: Extreme Load Times
Is there any way to speed up the statues setting up time? It definitely becomes a problem on bigger tracks with lots of statues like grass, trees and then all the misc track objects, buildings etc.

Those who possess strength have also known adversity.

Re: Extreme Load Times
That makes it load less textures. Doesn't really prove whether it's the disk or the graphics since it will load less from disk and send less to the graphics card.Boblob801 wrote:If I turn shaders off it takes just under a minute.jlv wrote:I don't have a good guess. I never noticed that was slow. Most of the time is spent loading textures and initializing the terrain tables and caches.Shadow wrote:Is there any way to speed up the statues setting up time? Seems like an issue with your computer, I just loaded in about 27 seconds give or take.Boblob801 wrote:I wish it was a minute when loading Millville (I think its this one) with shadersKlutch wrote:Just be patient, waiting half a minute or a minute isn't that bad.

Re: Extreme Load Times
I've been running at very high settings lately and I run the game off my 7200rpm Seagate, while my OS is running on my SSD. My load times average around 6 seconds. Something sounds wrong if you're getting load times like that on an SSD

DP. Running with terrain shaders does take a little longer but maybe 12 seconds at the most. I have a XFX 6870 1024mb running @ 1920x1080
