duplicate -> reflect (modeling)

Post by onefotyfo »

ive been modeling a lot more lately and for all of my projects that are suposed to be symmetrical i just duplicate and reflect the first half of the figure that i already have modeled. it doesnt look great, but it gets the point across, especially with a good set of maps. apparently this reflection can cause unwrapping problems...how are you guys that model replicating the first halfs of your figures, especially for intricate designs? i wouldn't think by the looks of things (released .blend files) that the more popular modelers around here on mxs are duplicating like me. what should i be doing?

It should work fine as-long as you do it right.

You might need to flip the normals when you do that
