Problems with Skins for the bike.

Post by Lanes121 »

I'm having problems with my templates that I've downloaded for my bike. I open them in Photoshop and edit them I'll change a couple colors add my number etc... Basic stuff then I save them as PNG. They never show up in my game. I've read many threads and videos and still do not understand what the problem is... Any help would be appreciated.

They're probably named wrong. What bike are you trying to save them to and what have you named then?

Didn't know if you would see my last respond, so I quoted you. Sorry this is my very first go around with this.

You can see post without quotes, just a respond will mark the post with "unread replies" (or make the icon yellow....).

Here's a topic about naming skins and files: http://forum.mxsimulator.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1862

Try to name it kx250f_v2010-2013-riskracing.png . That is assuming the model that you are using is named "2013".

Okay thanks wahlmat... I will give this a try. One last question now with the JM files for the certain model, how does that completely work. So if the template comes with the JM files and the PNG. how do I need to change the name and those JM files with the right set of graphics or skins Ive edited?

If the jm's comes with the download it's really easy. You must use a template that is meant for just those jm's, otherwise it's kind of useless. I'm going to try to explain what the jm's are.

JM files are files that contain information about the model. Where parts should go, kind of holding coordinates. The JM files will read out just that from the png file which becomes a texture. Than if a png file looks different, things will go to the wrong part of the bike and it will all looked messed up.

If the download came with a png it's probably named correctly, however .psd files (templates) is usually named differently. If the .png files was named "incorrectly", you could just copy the name from one of the jm's. For example kx250f_v2010_fork_upper-MODELNAME.jm, copy the name and delete "_fork_upper" and after modelname add "'-YOURSKINNAME" and it should work.
