How often do you sit in game? (Bonus stability question)

Post by aeffertz »

Hey all,

Sorry for the noob question, just looking for a bit of advice. I'm starting to get decent at the game but my corner game is weak. Watching a lot of first person videos, I see people really charge into corners and just stick in the rut. Do you guys sit in corners/ruts at any speed or do you limit it to slow/sharp turns? Also, my stability right now is set at 20 and I know most people who are good at the game run 15. Is that hindering my cornering, as he' doesn't want to lean as easily? I'm pretty trash when I move it down to 15 so it is a bit frustrating but is it time to sack up and move the stability down a bit to help out in the long run?

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I sit quite a lot, using sticky sit dab. Actually made a setup-video today, kind of beginner setup but I do run bumpy tracks with it since I get a lot of stability with it, compared to my other mx setup. There's also some 3rd person gameplay a little bit in, you can from there see how much I sit/stand.

For the faster or guys who have played longer the stability number means nothing because of all the advanced tweaking that goes on.

Spent a few hours tonight really practicing my sitting turns and have improved my corner speed and consistency quite a bit! Sitting really helps in most corners, even at a decent pace. At first it was tough getting used to holding the button down while turning and shifting and giving it gas but it's becoming more and more second nature.

You can turn on sticky sit dab so instead of holding the button down to sit you can just press it and he will sit till you press it again.

Yeah, I messed with that a bit and it was nice for cornering but it made seat bouncing weird and sometimes I didn't click the button hard enough for him to raise back up. I'm used to holding the button now.

Sit/Dab serves a few functions. Here's how i use it:

- Pretty much every jump face to stay low, or entering whoops to stay low into them. Sitting puts less downward pressure on the bike, and if timed correctly can allow you do jump lower.
- Tight corners where i need to steer with the back end. Sitting seems to relieve pressure on the pegs and allows the back end to slide more.
- Hand in hand with a seat bounce (lean back). When timing right, it allows you to pop off jumps a little more.
- Tapping sit to absorb braking bumps/rollers/ etc.
- Sitting when whipping allows for more rotation. f
- When i need more of a drive out of a corner to really huck something, I'll swing wide and stay standing. When standing, you seem to have more traction and less spinning.

I wouldn't recommend doing sticky sit dab, because there are benefits of being able to immediately stand as you release your finger.

I have mine set up as MVA:U controller setup so I'm a button masher for brake and throttle. I have to use my gearing and the brake adjuster in the menu's to control myself so I wouldn't recommend it but it felt natural to pick up on. I've tried a few times to change my brake and throttle to the analog sticks or the triggers but I just can't do it.

Ill tell u my setup and the problem i find with it:
Rt: gas
Lt: both brakes
Rb: sit dab (never use it)
Lb: clutch
Left joy: left n right
Right joy: back and for
A: downshift
X:up shift
B: back

I cant seem to find a way to use sit dab cuz even if i put it on A and put shifting on x and y, i like
To lean back and forward in bumps, whoops etc = i couldnt hit A while havin right thumb
On right joy... Dunno if u understand but if u do and have an idea, feel free to share lol

I put lean and turning on the same stick to free my right hand to play with trigger and buttons more.

RT/LT - Upshift/Downshift
RB/LB - Sit/Clutch
Left Stick - Steer/Lean
Right Stick - N/A
A - Throttle
X - Both Brakes
B - Back
Y - N/A (tear-offs, YOU'RE KILLING ME JLV!)

I wish I had learned to play the game with more throttle control but I think my competitive days are done anyways.
