Getting into Track Building in 2024
Getting into Track Building in 2024
I've been playing the game for a couple of months now i have been catching interest in making my own tracks. Is there an easy place to start learning how to build tracks or should i start by watching videos on YouTube?

jlv has a written tutorial here. If you're looking for more advanced tutorials there's a sub-thread of this thread called 'tutorials' here. Videos can get you started but if you really want a good understanding of how everything works I suggest reading these threads/pages.

There's a good thread to read here. It doesn't explain it in depth but if you read enough I bet you'll come across something useful.

If you take decals from another open track folder usually along the lines of “decal/decalfiles” you can copy those decals over to your track folder and drop it in there.
From there you want to return back to the track you got the decals from and open up the “decals” file with Notepad++ and take the lines referencing the decals you have in your track folder.
Example of how the lines should look:
[100.000000 100.000000] 0.000000 15.000000 1.000000 @TrackName/decals/dirt.png
[100.000000 100.000000] 0.000000 15.000000 1.000000 @TrackName/decals/grass.png
[100.000000 100.000000] 0.000000 15.000000 1.000000 @TrackName/decals/concrete.png
I hope that helps. Always make sure your references are correct, that’s a big thing that’s really easy to miss!
