Re: 100 or 150
That may not be a bad transition if you're tall enough for a big bike but dont want the racing power of a CR125/CRF250R right away.ehm24 wrote:250f , I jumped all the way from a little VERY under powered CRF70F to A radical CRF250F It was an easy jump, That thing is a puppyI can pick it completely up off the ground, and as long as you're around 5'5 you're good but I'm 5'5, 150lbs and pretty damn strong but as long as you have height and weight you should be good with a 250F
But just like the 100cc or the 150F, I think it's kind of a waste of money to have that transition bike in the middle between an 85cc and a 125cc that you'll ride for a very short amount of time.

So you suggest not to get the best handling 125 because of the clutch basket?Ballsfalsky wrote:125* get an 06+ YZ125 or an 05/06 KX125. Or even an 07 CR125. RM's had terrible clutch baskets.

So you suggest getting a bike based on someone elses personal opinion?Hi Im Skyqe wrote:So you suggest not to get the best handling 125 because of the clutch basket?

Yes. Who wants to spend extra money on a part that doesn't wear nearly as fast on the other bikes? I sure as hell don't. I like RM's. They are nice bikes, but the clutch is the only draw back.

Re: 100 or 150
No I do not, what I suggest is for a person to do research on the bikes and gather information on them and evaluate from there what is best for them and what they want out of a bike I certainly would not be afraid of or have a clutch basket sway my purchase.. I also had a 2004 RM 125 (first year of the revamp) and had zero issues with the clutch basket in 50 hours only issue I had was the stock jetting was overly rich which was easily fixed. My personal opinion when picking a bike is to pick one which gets a good rep for handling and durability, the other pieces of the puzzle can be fixed or made better but these two are something you will want as a starting point. Also I do not suggest one individual bike but I would narrow down the field a bit to help out.rideblue56 wrote:So you suggest getting a bike based on someone elses personal opinion?Hi Im Skyqe wrote:So you suggest not to get the best handling 125 because of the clutch basket?

Ballsfalsky- Still waiting for you to produce that window sticker showing over $80,000 MSRP window sticker for your truck that you have. Or was that information inaccurate just like your posts here?

Re: 100 or 150
$80,000 Was an estimate from all of the options. In 2008, the truck was worth $80,000 BEFORE rebates. After rebates, the truck comes to around $70,000CAD. I no longer own that truck. I traded it in last month on a '12 dodge. The sticker price for this truck was $63,000CAD. I paid $57,913 after rebates, and tax. I also traded in my 08 Duramax, and got $42,000CAD for it on trade.
I somewhat agree with you about bikes. Look at reviews, and get the bike that suits YOU the best. Most of the time, the bike that is 1st place in the shoot out isn't really the right bike for you. The only thing I can complain about with Suzuki's handling is that you sacrifice stability for cornering. I guess this could be adjusted with different triple clamps, but who wants to spend more money on a bike then they really have to? I say go for a YZ125, or even a CR125.
About zuki's clutch baskets. my 05 RM 250 that I had a couple years back (bought it new), grooved the basket with only 10 hours of regular use. I have never "ridden the clutch" either.

'05 RM 250. Same as my bike. It's got a Rekluse clutch in it though. Think that helps at all? It was just in it when I bought it so i dont actually know much about Rekluses other than I can chill there stopped in gear no clutch pulled in.

What year, how many hours, and how often do you do regular maintenance? what makes it a piece?
