I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

A gtx 780 with a 480w power supply? That is WAY too weak of a power supply. I may be wrong but I would never run under a 650 watt power supply with that. In fact I would probably run a 750 watt.

The nVidia recommended minimum power supply for a 770 is 600w so no I would not recommend a 480w for a 780.

I think the quality is what matters. BeQuiet has good products and the deficit is not as big as by other brands.

Quality does matter but to put what you said in other terms. The mercedes is much higher quality so it is better than the Corvette. While the mercedes may be high quality when you are getting the car for racing (racing being gaming), the corvette will blow it away. Seriously though DO NOT get a 480W psu no matter how high quality it is for something that requires much more than that. If you want quality and power I suggest Corsair, all I have used and I will never use anything else.

Ferrari make real high quality engines but are they gonna be able to power a big heavy ol' one of these? Same principle applies here doesn't it?

Your build confuses me very much. Why get a SLI board if you are only using a GTX460, and on top of that only one of them? Why get a Core 2? None of that needs 600w, why get 750?

To answer your question of good enough, it probably could. Not full 40 man gates and skins but it would run the game.
