Question Test Thingy
So, I was noticing how Dade flat tracks in my server tonight. He does it very different from anyone ive seen. He holds the front brake while sliding and powering around the corner. I noticed when I tried that I couldn't do the same as him. I decided to put together a little video that took me 5 mins. We were just interested if the community or JLV knew anything about why he can do it and I cant.
Heres the video:
note: It may not sound like it, but me and dade are both on 250fs.
So what do you think? Is it because he is on a Mac and I'm on PC?

Re: Question Test Thingy
Are you using a button for the front brake? If it's full lock you aren't going to keep moving forward.

Re: Question Test Thingy
I thought I knew of someone who had a similar type of flat tracking. And I forgot to say, we are both using triggers as our throttle and brakes.

Re: Question Test Thingy
LOL. Your triggers share an axis, Dade's do not.

Re: Question Test Thingy
That makes a ton of sense. Can I change the axis of my left trigger from my right in the profiler settings or such? Or is it because he has a mac and they come separate stock?

I don't think anybody will ever be as good at flat-tracking as Alec was (is if he still plays?). I know Armstrong does a version of it but Kittencheeseburger's method seems different and seems way faster. Something like this.

Re: Question Test Thingy
Nothing in that video to me looked like holding front brake and pinning it. Looks like he either gets on gas early or slides back end with rear brake.

Re: Question Test Thingy
Pretty sure I remember Alec saying that he does use the front brake every time to do that. Yeah, I know it doesn't look like it but pretty sure that's how he does that...
Either way, that video makes me so sad...
I miss Cattenburg man, seriously the funnest person to battle with in this game. Always super clean.

Re: Question Test Thingy
I use this method/technique since 2009! It definitely helps me in various situations, not just power sliding. It did cost me in 2010 "EMF" Anaheim 1 Main though.. On the last lap I was third and my front wheel kinda missed the berm because it was small and I went flying over it. Swedie Fred took the podium spot away!
Re: Question Test Thingy
I'm gonna be testing that out tomorrow! Thanks!yzmxer608 wrote:http://forum.mxsimulator.com/viewtopic. ... 58#p550358---RiLeY---151--- wrote:That makes a ton of sense. Randomly hopped on and saw this, if I end up with some free time maybe I'll come back. Have a ton of footy of the glory days (for me), that I've been meaning to put together for a throwback video but it's on my old hard drive.Osari52 wrote:Either way, that video makes me so sad... Either way, miss the shit out of you guys and the battles we had, and this game as a whole. A lot of memories, still rock that fly racing jacket I won all the time. Always a fun story to tell.
And Brady, hope you see this, really appreciate the second chance you were going to give me and I apologize for never getting back to you. Weird place to be typing all this buuuut oh well.
See you guys around hopefully.

I miss Alec. I was so bummed when he lost the East title to Robert. (Sorry Nash)

Re: Question Test Thingy
Interesting, surprised I never figured that out myself. I play with a flight joystick (old school mcm2 style) and it only has digital buttons (except the throttle slider). Sucks because I could never feather the brakes/clutch/throttle. It was fairly difficult to use both brakes so I only relied on the front one and turned the power almost too the max on it. Since I had a tendency to pull back on the stick I set that as lean forward and vice versa. I even ran an unorthodox suspension setup in game and it worked quite well.
