Reversed the lens? Thats pretty cool to do, need a lot of light to get it right though.

Ah thats pretty cool, have a go reversing your lens, just literally hold it back to front with the front element closer to the sensor. You may need a few lights/lamps as it will need alot of light.magnusson wrote:i found this small magnifying glass and took the photo trough it, took some time to get the thing in focus.
Re: Photography
This is hardly photography but I got bored, there only taken with mum's point and shoot little digital camera and didn't edit apart from cropping.
It's big I know but making it smaller killed the quality.

Re: Photography
My friends are getting back into the swing of riding and want me to go shooting with them again. I want to expand my lens set again because as of now I just have the stock 18-55mm and my 75-300mm lens. I would like one for times when they will be closer. Now for price I would really like to find a cheaper lens than this for video. Would my 18-55 work? I would hate to pay for a $100 lens I didn't actually need.Any suggestions on a good video lens or a lens for closer shoots are welcome. Also was wanting to know any pros and cons behind lens hoods.
I also want some stands. Any preferences between monopods and tripods? I have tried both in photography class and we had some pretty sweet tripods than could move just like you would a monopod but for motorsports I would like the maneuverability y that you get in a monopod. Once again suggestions welcome.

50mm 1.8 is my favourite lens i own, shortly after my 70-200 f4 L. For the money, BOKEH and the sharpness it creates, its an amazing little lens. Get it, you wont be disappointed.
Re: Photography
@Puma,
Don't cheap out on a tripod. The one you listed isn't considered a fluid head, so panning/tilting is gonna be a pain in the as*.
http://www.amazon.com/Velbon-VideoMate- ... B00004TYBM This is the tripod and head I currently own, and I love it for the price. Its got a fluid head and tension knobs for both pan and tilt. I did a little test video with it the day I got it..

Re: Photography
I wasn't talking as a single purchase. These are all future goals so by all means tell me what you believe is best quality for the long run. My plan of attack was to first get a monopod, then lens and possibly a lens hood(s), then get the tripod soon after.
About the lens, yeah I had a feeling it was a good lens but I had the same feeling about my 75-300 lens aswell. I didn't want to go $100 deep on a new lens but I really liked it so I thought that would be how that went again. As far as the mono/tripod I did list the cheaper ones. The monopod I don't need to have alot of features but I would prefer if my tripod did have some nicer things so thanks for that tip.
Side note, does anyone even use lens hoods? I have asked twice now and everyone seems to be avoiding the subject so I'm guessing I should just avoid them?

Its a personal preference thing imo...in really sunny situations a lens hood may help but its not required to have onePumaxcs wrote:I wasn't talking as a single purchase.
