Pictures of your drawings

I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

Fight the good fight.

Here's my final drawing from this quarter. Vine charcoal and conte crayon, 22x30. Too many hours spent redoing things over and over.

My drawing class for next quarter is supposedly 100% charcoal. Going to try that whole immersion therapy thing.

If there's fabric draping, expect it to take forever. I hate doing fabric as it is, but I won't even bother if there's no softbox lighting; especially if there's two hardlights like what you did. So, props to you on that, haha. Good luck on that charcoal thing. Immersion therapy won't be the only therapy you'll need.

As for what I did today. Portrait attempt. Kinda hate parts of it. But under two hours isn't bad for what it is. Had people on the interwebs telling me I was lying about only pencil to look cool.

The cotton technique is super intriguing. I'm gonna have to try it sometime. I didn't realize you were doing it on that small of a scale, was expecting a big cotton ball being used to block in areas on a big drawing. I'd imagine that it would work pretty well to go at it with just the cotton to get your base tones in and then you could hatch on top with a pen or a darker pencil or whatever for a cool result.

I normally use a variety. Cotton balls and cotton pads with the fine point and broad tip cotton swabs. It's not as effective as a blending stump or tortillion. It's just how I started, so I always seem to go back to it.

The main method I use for not fucking up hair is just not drawing people.

Yours looks pretty good and is way better than any hair I've drawn.

I've started to like the charcoal. The charcoal has started to like me.

I like the gradation. Charcoal is really versitile in the right hands. Looks like you're grasping it greatly. My only complaints about the work itself would probably be the contrast on the hand; I completely lose what I'm looking at past the left of the crow. And that the crow looks fuzzy instead of feathery. If you can, create a chunk of charcoal that looks like a calligraphy pen, then draw the feathers as you would in Sumi-e and shade as appropriate. It'll give you shape and make a decent feather.

This is a (18x12) tattoo sleeve I'm designing for someone. There are flaws aplenty, I know about the tentacle, haha. It's getting its digital redrawing tomorrow. Critique away please :D

Pretty cool design. I'm confused about what I'm seeing at about 11 oclock, but I like it overall. Should look worlds better digital, can't wait to see that.

Those fingers behind the bird are pretty fugly, I'm aware. You should have seen them on the first go round.

The birds can SMD my nuts, though. I set up an easel with a sick viewpoint, then some Mexican girl took it from me while I was helping someone set their easel up and I had to take the spot she abandoned directly behind the light source. Those birds just looked like black blobs.
