I could never drive a GT90, even if they had made it. I don't care what it performs like, it would bring back too many memories of Honors Geometry homework.

As far as trucks go, the be-all end-all for badassness is the Ram at the moment. It's got exactly the same attitude as the Charger, and I love it! It also won the 2009 Edmunds Full-Size Truck Shootout.

The 5.7 Hemi has cylinder deactivation so it automatically switches to being a V4 when you're not using the power. It's not the best on mileage, but if you need a full-size, you really can't have good economy. It takes energy to move something tough enough for the job. Besides, Chrysler has a hybrid Ram in the works already, and it's STILL got a Hemi. Here's the thing. If you need a full-size truck for work or bikes or something, then it's okay to get a 15mpg Ram or something. But if you are going to use it to drive to the office building and take the kids to Hank Williams Jr. High School, it's not for you. Myself, as much as I love the new Ram I have to say I don't think I can justify it. I just don't need that much beef, so the Dakota is good for me. And man, the 2nd Gen Dakotas are nice!

By the way, Judge, everything you mentioned would make the truck look goofy, in my opinion. I say give it some bigger on/off road tires and call it good. The Chrome grille is what makes the Ram, and indeed most of the other Dodges too.

Sorry about the double-post, but I just found a very interesting interview on the topic of future biofuels that got me researching. Apparently, the idea behind using algae is that you can produce a substance very similar to the oil we use today, and can thus be refined into alternatives to gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel that will work in existing technologies that use those fuels. Emissions will also be similar, but the CO2 you're emitting had to be sucked out of the air in the first place to create the algae! You're essentially running your car on its own exhaust. Best of all, for me at least, this means we won't have to deal with battery-powered motocross and electric NASCAR - which would completely defeat much of the appeal. Unlike previous biofuel sources like corn, or soy, algae doesn't take very much space. Algae is estimated to be able to produce from 15 to as many as 300 times more oil than conventional crops. To replace 100% of the US petroleum fuel demand with Algae would require 1/7 the amount of space we're using for corn alone right now. It is estimated that algae in an area similar to a two-car garage can produce more oil that a football-field-size area of soybeans. Here's the link that got me thinking.

So, what do you guys think?

It should be made clear, we're not talking about burning algae. We're talking about using algae to make (essentially) a clone of the oil we're using right now. And really, which is worse? Running your bike on something made and refined in Arizona, or running it on something made and refined in Saudi Arabia? Algae fuel means that you don't have to send gobs of cash into the Middle-East to run the cars and motorcycles of the world. All you need is a spot with some good sun and a nice facility to make the stuff. From there, all the existing infrastructure is the same. Gas can now be made in Spain, the South of France, the Sahara Desert, Eastern Oregon, or anywhere else that gets a good dose of energy from the sun. No longer would you have to run your car, knowing the gas was shipped to you from 12,000mi away. There's no reason why it couldn't have been produced in your own Country, State, or Province.

Correct me if I'm wrong, (I did not take biology to a very high level) but don't plants respire just like any animals therefore taking in oxygen and releasing CO2. Yes, I know they photosynthesise and all that, but at the same time, they use all the energy they are storing up as starch to grow, this requires respiration. Even worse photosynthesis can only be achieved through the daylight hours, respiration can occur all day. So perhaps algae is not as carbon neutral as you think.

I would think harnessing the sun's energy directly (i.e. solar panels or even solar furnaces/collectors etc) would be much more efficient than relying on plants who take their own cut of the energy.

I agree the likes of motocross would lose some of its appeal with the introduction of electric motors, but for some forms of motorsport, I would embrace it. In comparison to electric motors, internal combustion engines are so inefficient and dated it's unreal. I believe that if more time and funding were put into electric power, the results would be impressive. Just search for "Killacycle". The low RPM torque that they can create is phenomenal.

I think a happy medium would be nice, with some luxury items still running of petrol, but the modern everyday items using the far superior electric power. Where that power comes from is another matter entirely.....I suppose we will just have to wait and find out.

Hmm,is this off-topic enough? BTW, I voted Asian import. :D

I think, I may be wrong ( Or at least my expressions may be ), but as far as I can remember from school last year ( I spent cience class sleeping so yeah.. ), plants inhale oxigen and exhale CO2 on daylight, but at night, they do viceversa, I THINK. Why would you trust a guy on high school anyway? :P...

And @ Jetz: I like your fact there, totally right... from that side I'm starting to think it could actually be a good idea..!
