I left the motocross one a long time ago. It's a bunch of goons patting each other's backs. I get enough of that here. I bet Science is a good one, though.

Touche. Compared to the MotoGP sub, it's absolute shit. Not much goes on in the mx sub though, so it's not hard to just hit the new tab and see if there's anything interesting and then scram. I really don't browse science as much as I should. Most things worth reading in there show up on the main front page.

Re: Whats your pc?
Yesterday I started looking further into my watercooling paths and radiator options and there only one I can find where i can keep the HDD bay but with a window and watercooling loop is all aesthetics and from whats in my head its not very pretty. I downloaded PS last night so I can get images up of what I plan to do but that isn't why I'm making this post. This is about that pesky HDD cage and the drive itself. Its an old Seagate that I really wanted to upgrade regardless. Today on NewEgg, since the 750D has these awesome SSD sliding cages in the back, I was looking into laptop HDD's to fit and give me the storage I want and still not take up space. I found a WD Black 750GB 2.5 HD that is perfect but little small and has a 16MB cache but at $80 not bad. Kind of small for what I was hoping for, maybe I could RAID 0 and everything be happy. While looking in the smaller section of HDD's I came across their new drive which is the WD Black2, a SSHD that uses a 120GB SSD built into the 1TB HDD for cache. This got me thinking, I have an old OCZ 120GB SSD that is in a box not doing anything and I could just buy a normal 3.5 2TB Black and put it in the cage or maybe even a 5.25 converter for it. This is where I am looking for assistance.
Overall the prices are fairly equal and not a big enough difference where price changes my mind. I've already got the SSD for cache and an external for backups so either route is easy enough. Should I get RAID 0 750GB? Would using RAID improve anything for the cache ie 32MB? Is there that big of a difference where the 16MB vs 64MB cache would even be noticeable? Or is the 2TB single drive using the SSD for a cache a better way to go? As of right now I'm leaning to the 750GB as it sounds easier than messing with cache and all that stuff but maybe I'm over thinking it and I don't even need the cache in which case the 2TB is my choice. I'm just trying to do some cool things with it.

Re: Whats your pc?
If you do Raid you shouldn't have to worry about the cache size. I would rather do the array because that way you can still use your SSD for normal use instead of being limited to what the cache is doing.

Well I have a Samsung 256GB SSD thats my C drive. I was going to use the OCZ as solely a cache.

Re: Whats your pc?
How much would you recommend the 750D? Is it worth the $150 on Newegg today, or should I try to wait for a better deal on it? The case is pretty much everything I want, and I have some Xbox junk to sell so the money isn't really an issue, but I'd like to hear your experience with it.

Also, would it be worth the extra $20 (why?) to go mid tower instead of full tower with a 650D instead? I don't really need to conserve space or anything, but I don't know if I want a huuuuuge tower.

Well, I answered my own question because the 650D is only 2 inches shorter than the 750D, and both are only slightly bigger than my current tower, so the 750D seems to be the one for me. Now, I just need to spend about five hours convincing myself to spend the money on it.

Re: Whats your pc?
Its on sale right now at NewEgg with a MIB for $20 off. I personally couldn't be happier. Comes with enough fans out of tha gate to get the job done and the 140mm are really quiet. Then the completely modular drive cages are another fantastic thing, the review videos on YT never mention it but you can hang it from the 5.25 bays which is how I have it set up now. Dust filters all over the place = happy. Space inside the case is a dream to work with and about an inch of space behind the MB tray to hide cable is another fantastic thing. Only gripe is it doesn't look good with a 5.25 drive though because the front bezel is larger, kind of throws the flat aesthetic off but if you can live with it/don't want one/take my option and get an external I have no downsides functionally with this case. I was in your boat about full towers but honestly once I got it I got over its size fairly quick, maybe a couple of hours.KTM57 wrote:3

My current case is something like 19x6x19. The 750D is about 20x6x22. Shouldn't be too bad. I plan on possibly building a Mini ITX PC with an APU to take to school with me, so mobility isn't much of an issue.

Re: Whats your pc?
So I listed my 6950 on Ebay for $170 about an hour ago. It was a manufacturer refurb that I used for 6 months and then stored in my 760 box. It sold extremely fast.
That's good, because I had just impulse bought the 750D about five minutes before it sold.

Re: Whats your pc?
I think a RAID 0 array would probably edge out a single drive with a cache but since you have the SSD already might as well give it a try. You can probably partition part of it off to use for something else as I doubt you will need 128gb for cache alone.Pumaxcs wrote:Well I have a Samsung 256GB SSD thats my C drive.
