IMO make sure you get a tape video camera (apposed to DVD)
If you want to do ANY video editing DVD cameras are almost useless. The format does not work with any decent video editing programs and often come with a basic and pathetic version editing software.

Re: Go Pro video cameras
my cousin has one and they are pretty slick. we filmed a good 15 riding hours our last trip to the waynoka sand dunes. the actual uncompressed quality of video is damn amazing. he is editing it all together at the moment and giving us dvds i think. ill toss it up on here sometime once i get it. ive seen alot of footage on youtube where the quality has to get compressed and what not and they dont look too terribly great on there. so idkk.

Oh is this a helmet cam? OPPS!! well i didnt know that.
Well then yes they would defiantly record onto an SD card. Unless you had a backpack with a camera on you back and it could record onto that.
i hear these are extremely good.

These need a recording device i think.

Re: Go Pro video cameras
The GoPro is the best helmet camera on the market. Its not even just a helmet camera. You put it in a plastic weatherproof case to mount it on your helmet. Its water proof even up to like 150ft I believe. A buddy of mine took his on his honeymoon and took it scuba diving and everything. I have two videos on youtube up of me using one and the quality IMO is fantastic. It takes out the wind noise, and has some kind of steady feature. If your thinking about getting one, I would definitely recommend it.
EDIT: Oh yea, and as mikey said get the wide-angle version. Its not a huge huge difference, but it is a little better.

Re: Go Pro video cameras
I've been looking for a good camera, and it's basically come down to the GoPro or the POV.1 or 1.5. I think the POV is a better system (higher resolution, preview screen, remote control, etc) but the GoPro is a damn sight cheaper and doesn't have a cable. The main problem I have with the GoPro is that it's got that wide-angle thing, which makes the planet look like a sphere about 65ft around. Any input, guys?

Wow those are the exact two that I'm looking at Jetz haha. This guy at my dad's work has one for his road bike (motorcycle) and he likes it, only thing is the price... The wideangle Go Pro seems pretty nice, but you can't really judge it by online videos because of the distortion when they are uploaded.

Re: Go Pro video cameras
Hey guys, I vote to forget about the GoPro and the POV.1 series. Check out what just hit the scene.

Compared to the POV, it's smaller, records better resolution, can record more footage, and costs half the price. Oh, and did you want that one landing to be in slow-mo? Say hello to 60fps at 858x480 res. Want to count the cooling fins on that bike that was running half a lap ahead of you? 1280x720 is here, in a self-contained helmet camera unit. This is an amazing leap forward.

Re: Go Pro video cameras
i have a go-pro wide angle, it looks great on your own computer, the resolution isn't really that big, but the sound is nice and its CHEAP.
The new vholdr looks nice, i had one of the old ones and it sucked. before buying that new contour one i would wait and see what it sounds like with a dirtbike, the sound was horrible with the other one.

The quality of the video it takes looks pretty good. The vid of the mountain bikes is pretty cool, I'm downloading the video of the snow one in HD right now, will see how it looks when the video is unaltered.
