Laptop Cooler Designs

I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

Laptop Cooler Designs

Post by damon99 »

Hello everyone! I am a part of a three person team based out of Greenfield Central High School, Indiana. For our PLTW class: Engineering Design & Development, we are tasked with finding a real world problem, and to solve it.

We have chosen to solve the issue of laptops frequently overheating, and current laptop coolers being inadequate as you may have seen through other surveys here on the forum. Through our engineering design process, we have gotten to the point where we have three different designs to solve this problem. However, we are not qualified to decide which of these three designs we will choose. YOU, the potential consumer, will decide this, based off your wants and needs. So, we ask that you take the time to complete our survey, answer truthfully, and give us feedback. Thank you!

Not sure how serious this is but I had a few things that I couldn't fit into a response. I like some idea's from all but mostly 1 and 2. If you could mash the intakes from 1 and have the 250mm fit flat across the top I think it would be better. I like the larger fan because it allows higher CFM with lower noise, and I like it fitting flat because depending on what bearing is in the fan can cause noise if it isn't flush. Also, like the idea of a fan controller though would it be possible since you have a USB connect for the hub use that connection to read the CPU temperature read and have it control automatically? Also, for the mesh intakes are they dust proof filters or just a wide hole protective mesh so fingers or wires don't get in there? On top a wide hole mesh would be fine I think but for the intakes I'd like a finer mesh to keep dust out.

I understand where you're coming from when wanting the fan to be flat. Our reasoning for tilting the fan at an angle is just for it to catch the air better when coming from the back intake, but thanks for the ideas! Also, with the mesh on the intakes, we are planning on it being both protective and a filter.

Thanks for the feedback! :D

I've seen there have been nearly 100 views of this post. Please take the survey! it will take less than 2 minutes. If you don't want to do the write in portion, just type a period into the box.

We only have 10 survey takers on the survey. This is not enough. Please help us out.
