I think erode in qualifying is a bad thing and also a good thing. Bad thing is erosion causes inconsistency among servers for laptimes, but on the other hand we get to know how it will feel during the race. Not sure how rF is going approach this.

A lot of moving parts behind the scenes. Pretty confident (not 100% official) A1 will be no membership required like we've done in the past. Cost is dependent on a few things we have in the works, that's why it hasn't been announced.

A final decision has not been made. It'll honestly be close to a game time decision, as it's something that can be implemented either way within 5 minutes, so other bigger things have taken priority.

Hubbard is correct, there are positives and negatives:

Positives of having erode:
-Lets riders get a feel for the erode prior to the racing beginning
-Opens up additional line options in qualifying, which I've seen translate to racing (insides after a finish for example... if we don't allow guys to build a rut in qualifying, they get "programmed" into only using the outside and it'll never form in the race)
-Lets hosts preview erode prior to the racing beginning (gives an extra peek to make sure we are on track and verifies what erode number we need to run server side)
-Physics handle differently between erode/non-erode - keeps it consistent
-Tracks/sections can be built without taking into account any non-erode riding/racing.
-Replicates closer to IRL (though our system is still way more fair to IRL as everyone starts with the same track and it is set to break down at the same rate)

Negatives of having erode:
- It is not completely consistent for everyone

While the list is lopsided towards the positives, the negative holds a lot of weight as well - seemingly especially with the guys who want to compete for the top quali time which is surprising as I expected more of the bubble guys to have concerns than guys who easily get in each week.

I asked people to put concrete on the entire track for practice in real life making the claim that the laptimes for qualifying could be inconsistent. The told me to go home.
