Yeah, I think that was an issue with someone getting stuck sending acknowledgments. Should be fixed now.

Frustrating when you click double click "Join Race" at 5:01 and accidentally click "Withdraw". #noob

I agree a bigger window would be nice. It's short to make sure the people who sign up actually race.

Not sure what the 5 minute delay after entry closes is all about though. Why not just delay the race until 5 after the hour to give people time to join?

oh yeah that makes sense and so they can actually get everything done in an hour i guess but i feel like it gets done soon enough to spare an extra 5 mins for sign up.
but then im sure there would be someone saying 10 mins isnt enough time hahaha cos we are humans and we are never happy

Timing.

The 5 minute lock out is a product of my original plan to have the game servers check the web server at 5 minute intervals. Since I wasn't sure how long each round would take, I wanted to make sure the race was able to start on time (in case the game server pinged the web server just before the hour). If one event was 5 minutes late, plus a full hour event, then the next would be AT LEAST 5 minutes late. Likely this would compound though.

I also wanted the most accurate timing between web server and game server. With signups going until the hour, the first heat will likely be around 5 after. After signups close, there is a 1 minute buffer before the web server will generate the event info(s) to allow the clients to sync up, then a waiting period until one of the three game servers ping's the web server. Hopefully, one of the servers will be just barely out of sync (late) with the web timing, to provide the best performance. Worst case though, all three game servers ping just before the 1 minute buffer is finished, in which case everyone will have to wait another 2 minutes (game server ping interval) before the infos are generated and downloaded. This means up to 3 minutes late, then a buffer time to allow people to get into the server where they are supposed to race.

So, yeah, I'll try to clean it up a bit and adjust things to be a bit easier. Also need to figure out the real cause of some people not being able to check in properly.

I really wish more people would participate in these. Maybe adding some sort of point series which I'm sure is in the works. Also as I've said I think RF running a few select AM events would be pretty cool! I need to learn how to script or something b/c I'd be happy to try & run them if I knew how lol.
