***MODELS and SKINS HELP/QUESTION THREAD***
Re: ***MODELS and SKINS HELP/QUESTION THREAD***
I am looking for some good tutorials on baking in blender, how to create AO maps, a better way of making normal maps, and maybe some tips on unwrapping... everything is greatly appreciated especially from DDMX and DJ who have helped out even with the more useless questions so I really like to thank you guys so far!

Re: ***MODELS and SKINS HELP/QUESTION THREAD***
Okay, well i've gotten the crf250 ingame.. but the smoothing groups don't transfer over. I've tryed these ways of going from wings to ingame files (my model originates in wings, then i export it to work in blender, then in blender i export to .jm):
1) .wings > .obj > .jm
2) .wings > .3ds > .jm
3) .wings > .obj > .blend > .jm
4) .wings > .3ds > .blend > .jm
The smoothing groups disapear somewhere in between. I've checked the .3ds files in wings, and the smoothing is still there... But when i put it into blender and export as a .jm, it's not there ingame. I've also made sure to have smoothing groups selected in the import window when importinginto blender.
Im stumped. Anyone know what a possible problem could be? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks guys.

Blender doesn't recognise smoothing groups
Re: ***MODELS and SKINS HELP/QUESTION THREAD***
I have a question about naming skins the same way we name models...
Lets say I am skinning a 2010 CRF
Ok so to put a model in game you save the 6 parts like so:
crf250_frame-2010.jm
crf250_swingarm-2010.jm
crf250_upper-2010.jm
crf250_fork_lower-2010.jm
crf250_side_plates-2010.jm
crf250_front_plate-2010.jm
I am saving my skins as crf250-2010-stock...
My question: Is it possible for the modeler to make 4 separate wire frames for each part of the bike in game? So a wire frame for everything going into frame.jm and a separate one for swingarm.jm
Then when I skin according to the wireframe for the separate .jm's I would save my skin as:
crf250_frame-2010-stock.png
crf250_swingarm-2010-stock.png
crf250_upper-2010-stock.png
crf250_fork_lower-2010-stock.png
I don't know if what I just said is understandable... but its kind of hard to get my point across. If anyone understands this, is it possible? If you don't understand it just speak up maybe I can explain
Haha.

No. They all use the same texture.

Re: ***MODELS and SKINS HELP/QUESTION THREAD***
ok but I think it would be a good idea to do this. That way each UV map could be the biggest possible for the parts on it, therefore more detail. I think it would use more memory or whatever though... right?

Yes, it would use a lot more texture memory, plus normal and specular maps on all of them, and it's just way to many files. I personally think that it's fine how it is, with the bike atleast....

When will we have separate boots and goggles! It is desperately needed in my opinion.

Re: ***MODELS and SKINS HELP/QUESTION THREAD***
When you are in replay mode hit the TAB button until you are in free rome camera. You should be able to figure it out from therejasper125 wrote:how can i get the camera closer to the track when i replay a race?
