Also, even if you have this fear of using 4k maps, which may I add I think is a good thing, but thats your choice, I would either way bake at 4k, that gives some anti aliasing when you scale it down to 2k.attacker5 wrote:Did you triangulate the low poly before you baked it?

Nice! Looks exactly like my EX bikeJre wrote:Sry double.
Today made some shading work for the plastics. Overall the bike is pretty much getting there and if everything goes well the next update will be a release.. .... and with a template as well.![]()
The hunger got too big and I probably overkilled the original idea to make just a quick conversion.. So there is pretty much my own parts or strongly modified parts from the original blend file, I will list them in the release.
This project has been a full joy from the start to the point where it currently is, and again learned a ton of things.

Re: Upcoming Models #2
Yes I did triangulate it. I´ll keep the 4k map size in mind, Thank you

Thanks guys!
Kording, I'm not sure what is causing that since my experience with triangulation problems is a bit different, but the part is going to be white so I think it's not a problem then even if not fixed. Anyway I'd finish that bike if I was you, as I said looking good to me. Oh it was just the lighting or something that made it look so clear that I thought you are using a 4k map. Now I see the usual pixelation there. According to what attacker said, I'm also baking norms using a 4k image and then resize them.
mbork, the CR is still looking like the bike in my signature (just a mesh with a background image). And since I bought a real CR while ago, I'll remake the model pretty much from start so I can take some real dimensions and follow better references. Gonna put at least 200% effort on that model.

Looks super sick! I do want to say, though, that I think you should make the handlebars a little bit wider. I don't know about everyone else, but it really bothers me how skinny Attacker's bars are.Jre wrote: http://imageshack.us/a/img838/5255/9dr.png

I'd say that, other than two or three guys, nobody in our community will even produce better work with a bigger map. It's just going to transfer to bigger file size for the most of us.760Liam wrote:4k maps are the future..... MAKE THE SWITCH PEOPLEEEEEEEE

Depends, as far as normal maps go they look superior in 4k. No matter your skill level. A 2k spec would suffice for the most part, no one ever puts much into them. As for diffuse it would help make a lot of the smaller parts look more crisp. It would allow creators to averaged the uv scales instead of selecting parts and scaling them down to compensate for the lack of uv space.KTM57 wrote:I'd say that, other than two or three guys, nobody in our community will even produce better work with a bigger map. Hi
Re: Upcoming Models #2
Well, duh. I just don't think it's worth the file size or memory. With smart UV mapping, a bike can look good in 512x256.

You have a lot of convincing to do there Mr Sanders. I await your reply. (In all seriousness, I'd love to see)KTM57 wrote:Well, duh. I just don't think it's worth the file size or memory. With smart UV mapping, a bike can look good in 512x256.
