wow, that looks really realistic. but i think we need some better modeled bales, cause the ones we have are exactly square.
irl the bales aren't perfectly square, the corners are a bit rounder.

That's cause we try to make them low poly , if you wanna make them more realistic probably you will need make them higher poly , not sure but by what i know this game doesn't support smooth groups or something that would help with more realistic bales
I can be wrong , if yes sorry.

Thats where baking the mesh to a normal map becomes useful. Just make a round bale, and bake it to a square one

I think you guys are overdoing the shading on the tuff blocks. To me it looks like you guys are using the garbage bag with a decal on it look. Real tuff block covers appear to be much thicker, and wouldn't wrinkle like you're trying to make them look like.

If you look at the work of guys we consider "gods" around here - messiah, gala, ecks, you'll notice the following:

They WAYYYYYY OVERDO effects (compared to real life).

This is a video game. Subtle effects go un-noticed. In order to make something look realistic on a little computer screen, you have to over exaggerate the details so they can be seen.

Think of how you take shading and wrinkles for granted in real life. You never notice them. But on a video game, you will immediaely notice THE LACK of them. So you have to overdo em a bit to ... make em look right.

(I've been studying shading for the last few months, quite heavily, and I can assure you that I've never seen a picture of a guy riding in real life where the shading is even remotely as bold and noticable as what we like to see in video games)

So this bale is a totally new model that you made? Or a bale someone else made, you are just skinning it?
The shading is looking good, but the ripples are looking a little to thin.
