I dont know what you wanna do with your model, but i`d say if you just let it without the beveled edges, and bake a normal map for it, it wont be a big difference in the end.
Considering the entire model is a cube, baking a 90° edge might not be such a good idea. What you could do, is make a normal cube, then uv map it, then inset each face and scale it out, that way you have bevels, but still have the main edge, including the uv done perfectly, assuming blender allows editing the model after the uvs.
I got the front alright, but it would probably kinda suck for skinning. The only way I could get the back all one piece was to just straighten the edges of the UV.
Yeh guys, thanks for the help! What I tried last night was I unwrapped before modifying the edges like you said Ramon, and all seemed fine except the vertices where each corner is got pretty weird...I'll explain better and post a picture when I get back home.
Josh, if I were to leave it as is, is it possible to make the edges look a bit smooth with a normal map?
I'm looking at Mona's GoPro and his unwrap is flawless...beveled edges and all. Mona, are you here? -_-
