Re: SX Phoenix
I'm not sure exactly Wheels. My point is more that James isn't as innocent as defan was trying to make him look.
Like I said before, he left himself wide open for a block pass. Most of the guys playing MXS online would practically be drooling coming through that whoop section knowing what they are about to do. But when it happens in real life they get all bent out of shape about it. Reed stayed low and gave him the option to go around, either James didn't have time to react, or the strength, but he plainly ran into the side of a parked Reed, at the base of a berm. It's almost as if James thinks he is the only one on the track, he has no awareness in a pack. Sure if he had stood the bike up and went around Reed he would get passed, but that's better than ending up on the ground, again.
Sure I'm a huge Reed fan, I have no troubles admitting that. What happened was a racing incident, the blame lies with both of them. If Reed wouldn't have tried to pass him they wouldn't have crashed. You say Reed was riding behind him, slacking, but when he goes for the pass they crash and it is entirely his fault? Should he have not tried to pass? This would just make you even madder that he was still following James.
There were only three 180 turns on the track, this is where most of the passing takes place. The first one is after a standard triple, I'm guessing James was running a defensive line through there. The next one after the rhythm, everyone was running a defensive line through there all night long, once again not much opportunity to pass. Then we come to the last 180, Stewart is leaving himself wide open for a block pass lap after lap. Reed is following him, perhaps studying his lines and trying to figure out where he can get past him on this hard to pass on track. Where would you try to pass him? The logical place seems like a block pass in the last corner, doesn't it?
If you can't see that it wasn't a dirty pass with malicious intentions after reading all of that, I'm sorry. I really am.

Re: SX Phoenix
That is exactly right. Reed didnt push Stewart right up to the edge of the berm, he kept his line right around the middle of the corner. IMO, its not his fault that Stewart took the corner so sharp.Reed stayed low and gave him the option to go around

Re: SX Phoenix
well done!
Re: SX Phoenix
That reminded me of the first round of the SuperX last year. That pass on Stewart is nothing compared to the pass he makes to win here:Kawasakis wrote:Chad Reed cant win without taking out people

My mom just watched the race with my dad and says it's Stewies fault.
And DJ and Phathry thank you for controlling the nut swingers while I was gone.

Re: SX Phoenix
So, to set things straight. I am in no way saying James Stewart is innocent. But i would like you to take a look at those videos that Phathry, the Reed supporter in this case, and tell me how many times Stewart blatantly made contact with reed while going for a pass. The one in Jacksonville comes to mind. Watch at 4:46; Stewart passes reed after the triple, no contact. Very next corner...Reed shows no love and plays bumper bikes with #7. And even though the GOAT was saying Stewart wanted to take out reed, DID HE MAKE CONTACT?!? Didnt think so. Please, if you can count for me the number of times stewart blatantly ran into reed in 2009, and how many times Reed ran into stewart, we can figure out the ratio and determine who really is the dirty rider in this situation. (this could be a while, i'll go to bed and hope to see a couple numbers when i wake up)
And yes, i do believe stewart needs to figure out how to tone it down when he is in a big pack of riders. Clearly shown by his crash in his heat race, he isn't well practiced in being deep in the field.

Haha nice to see people calling people JS nutswingers while being obvious Reed fanboys/JS haters themselves
IMO it was an aggressive move by Reed and that's just part of the racing. But if you say it was Stewarts fault you're equally nuts, he was more focused what's in front of him instead of looking back all the time. Therefore to prevent these from happening, I insist that squareing berms is made illegal, plus the bikes must have rearview mirrors(maybe blinkers and horn aswell).
The shoving of the helmet was just reflex I think, remembering that he might have a broken hand under there.

What is funny to me, is that this is the first time that Reed has actually succeded when trying to take James out. Once again, Stewart is not a dirty rider. You will not find any footage of him taking anyone out, yet on this page alone, there are 3 videos of Reed dumping someone. Stewart is aggressive. Maybe over aggressive at times, but he doesn't try to put guys in the stands.
Also I really think Stewart made a mistake on the face of the triple that caused him to get together with partridge. As I was watching, I saw that he was actually leaning away from Kyle as he left the face, as if he was trying to stay away from him. I think he over jumped the small triple before the main triple, which caused him to get a little out of shape. I don't think he just scrubbed under him. Aggressive or not, hes not stupid.

I like neither. I like Dungey, Villo, Barcia, and Brayton. Reed I started to like a bit more last year since he raced the nationals. I've disliked Stewart since he put MC over a berm at Anaheim awhile back. That killed all hope of me being a fan of his. MC is still my all time favorite rider. Probably always will be.
And if you read a few pages back, I never put the blame on either one. To me it was a racing incident. Stewart squared up hard to try to pass Brayton, and Reed was already committed to the line he was taking and couldn't go anywhere. He stayed down low and Stewart turned down into him. Reed was hardly even moving. Neither could avoid it at that point.
And btw...Larry Brooks says... "Chad gave him a roundhouse punch to the head. He deserves to pay."
God I fucking hate that guy.

Re: SX Phoenix
Nah I wasn't directing it to anyone specially, I just read the thread after watching the race and it was the first thing going in my mind.
But on different topic, I really start to believe that Dungey has a chance at taking the championship. He also seems to be a really nice guy, so I wouldn't mind being called a Dungey fanboy.
In lites I would've liked to see Canard do better, he did alot of little mistakes that cost him.
