You don't put the satellite image as the terrain, you put it as a decal, but everything else is flat still. Then you build around that image.
I know he exported a heightmap to get it, but if you're asking that I don't think you're going to be able to do that. I haven't actually figured it out either and I have been spending hours and hours on it.

When I try to put the image as a decal to work off of...its too smalll. How exactly do i line it up perfect? I guess the image itself must be a perfect 1025x1025 correct? but which coordinates do i enter?
Im trying to make a replica track , but these decals are really getting to me. I dont know if i should just make the whole track first (jumps, berms, etc) and THEN do the decals to get the track layout correcT? whats everyones ways? I need to know!

Use the ShadingX2.ppm for the image... Then adjust the terrain HF file to get the track to scale..

Make the image 1025x1025, save the satellite image as shadingX2.ppm, then put it in the track folder.

I could probably write a short tutorial on how I'm going about to make Hangtown later... Right now I just want to get it finished in time though.

You're right, I did and it's on page #111. The GIS software I used can be found here http://www.usna.edu/Users/oceano/pguth/ ... crodem.htm

Why use the shadingx2 for the reference pic? As soon as you update the shading in any way the image is gone.
I use a decal with transparency for reference. Just make a decal with power of two dimensions and place it at coordinates 1024.5 1024.5 with a scale of 2049.

I use it for scale usually and a referance in the editor ..I mostly use it in PS...by the time im ready for updating I dont need the image any longer...Also its fast and easy to get in ...

Who made this track? I thought it was haggvist, it would be amazing to make it in summer time, with some wider ruts, like fort winston or something, that would make the track even better i think.
But i like it.
what track is this???
i havent got this one or seen it beforez???
looks like a nice track to ride

A whoops training track was requested somewhere, so I decided to make one.
Still have decals and a few sections yet to do.
The track is pretty massive, the second pic has me riding it for reference on how big it is=p
