first step: Update all your drivers and windows updates > run virus/spyware scans (ccleaner.com) > disable background programs (you can use ccleaner.com for that also)

report back

www.nvidia.com for your video card drivers also

GeForce 9 series drivers is what you are looking for.

Try to close down any programs you have open that you don't need (keep ON your antivirus).

hi guys, i have a similar problem

i recently reformatted my computer and ive reinstalled my drivers, From the dell cd, that come with my computer.

its just when it comes to re-installing my nvidia graphics card (a nvidia geforce 6150 LE)
i get this error message when i go to install it

"setup detected that the operating system is not in use with windows. This setup program and its associated drivers are designed to run only on windows. The installation has been terminated"

i cant figure it out. i looked to see if i have registerd windows and it shows that windows and is activated and that i have a genuine product key << which it is.

any help guys?

Is that with the driver installer from here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index5.aspx?lang=en-us? On that page choose the correct options from the menus and it will find the newest drivers for you (GeForce, GeForce 6 series, your Windows version, your language).
