renaming/changing bike

Post by JB323 »

i thought i remember seeing dj saying that this was possible.

but is it possible for me to rename the default models (rider/bike) with a new skin/model ?

example 1 would be - when i dont have "rider A" setup thats on a honda 250f he would default to dj's volcom honda ? (saying he was on a honda)
example 2 would be - when i dont have "rider B" setup thats on a suzuki 250f he would default to makita (saying he was on a suzuki)
example 3 would be - when i dont have "rider C " GEAR it defaults to 2009 thor red or something.

i guess is it possible to change the defaults to certain setups for each of the bike models so when someone joins and im missing that bike it goes to one of the things i have chosen it to go to ? (obviously the rider model would only be 1 skin since theres not variations really like the bikes )

and now if this is all possible which im pretty sure its possible, is it possible to make it use one of two different (save files?) to randomly select for when it goes to this "new updated default"

As for C, I'd just duplicate the saf with DDMX's rider model in it, open up the saf, and rename rider_body-ddmxv2.jm to just rider_body.jm, then do as you did with A and B. Same goes with the helmet.

Oh, and it becomes a bit more complex if you are replacing a model that already has alot of skins. You can do that with JLV's models because there are only 1 or 2 skins, but if you were going to use, say, the CRF V2 as the stock model, you would have to replace DDMX's default CRF model with that one, and then also get rid of any skins it uses, as alot of people still use that model, and those skins will show up on the new model, which will appear all messed up

I would, but only with DDMX's permission.

Also, I just noticed that it still uses the rider number plate for the stock model, so you have floaty numbers. Which reminds me, I would like to have a number plate for DDMX's model

dammit dave why you gotta be at home on ur break :/ haha

i think ill figure it out, but it would be a nice feature to have defualt models switch to the v2 model or a better looking skin for both rider and model, i like my visually appealing effects as much as possible :P

Here's what I did. Top is the ddmxv2 saf, bottom is the replacement default saf. Notice the three changes (I used one of the skins as the default skin)

Oh, and you might want to do the same for the rough normal and spec map released for the ddmxv2 model

Here's the Fox V3 as a default model, with the Whitewall as the stock skin

Not the saf, but it must have the default name.

Take whatever you want and do whatever you want DJ, I could care less nowadays. I imagine within the next month every project i've ever started is gonna become public. I'll upload all the blend files, all the psd's, all the half finished track objects, all that stuff. Because as each day goes on, theres a greater and greater chance that it will never get released by me.
